I have my new to me lathe/mill combo pretty much set up and I am looking for some ideas on a few small motorcycle parts I could make for practicing on. So any ideas out there on things I could make that would be useful to us? :big-grin-emoticon:

Forward and rear facing cannons to control the unruly cagers is the first thing that comes to mind. :big-grin-emoticon:

I was thinking more along the lines of a MG42 on the front and a midget in the trunck wit a .30 cal.!!!

If you don't mind a little plagiarism you could make up some "snagglestuds"

I just might do that and maybe speedo grease fitting. I'm starting to get the brain moving!!! My brother wants me to make Hardly neck lock pins.

Also thinking of trying to make a better arm rest for the 1st Gen.!:fatsmiley:

First thing I thought of was pegs, also.

I'll look into that and see what kind of style/design I can come up with.

I would say some spacers for the leaky plugs behind the faux fins. but you probably can make them for .10 a piece.

If I had the dimensions I would make them.

I'll have to get my ideas book out and start writing down these ideas. And perhaps I can send the finished pieces to whom ever comes up with ideas/measurements for the part(s) so they can try them out and help with refinements.

How about some foot board brackets for first gens? Or something that would pop out and catch the bike when I do something that would result in scratch and dent moments.

I have no intention of stepping on the toes of anyone who makes and sells items on our forum. BUT if they have stopped doing so I see no reason not to try and see what I can come up with.

No problem with me. I was having them stamped by a local shop but had to order 75 or so at a time. As demand dwindled, it just made no sense. Feel free to make them if you want to.

or some bad ass highway pegs

Also thinking of trying to make a better arm rest for the 1st Gen.!

Tall people and their VR's hmm,,, at 6', my passenger complained that her floorboards were too close for comfort and uses front pegs for long hauls. Front pegs aren't the best alternartive, but

they keep her happy and on board. The problem with that was the pegs were too short and caused foot cramps. I had the pegs extended with welded 3" steel rod and wrapped with

Gorilla and rubber tape to match diameters. Hey, any port in a storm. Find them more comfortable myself. It took a few weeks to get use to them, they are now a permanent fixture. I would

would work on a better design if I had the tools.

As far a redesigned arm rest, sign me up. The stock armrest works as long as the bolts are tight. Would be good to have incorporated a positive semi-lock in the up position.

Well I'm going to make a list and have a good look at it and what I feel I can do without getting over my head right away I'll do first. Other projects will be a bit longer in coming. For now it's going to be limited to the first gens since I have one. Second gen stuff may require me to measure up on someones bike to see what I need to do. Who knows maybe find a junker and use it for experimenting on.

I may be in need of a steel swing arm bushing for the mini bike I am restoring. I may not need them, but not sure at this time. When I get ready to re-install the swing arm I will know for certain... If I do need them, I will contact you and provide the length, ID & OD dimensions and you can give me a price on them including shipping to the state of Alabama (Zip code = 35824).

Is there anybody making leveling links for the RSV? Very simple and the Diamond R seems pricey for what they are.

I made my links for less than 2 dollars. Really simple to do.
