I've had 4 Yammy's in my life. A early 70s MX90 (junk) a late 70s TT500 (awesome hill climber) and now my 87 and 06 Ventures. As much as I love my last 3 Yammy's, it's hard to put down a Honda. I've had a bunch of Hondas, and I liked them all, although every Honda I've ever owned has been pretty cold blooded. (sometimes hard to start, and had to warm up before they'd run right)

No doubt, Honda deserves a lotta respect.

Indeed,, THAT is a lot of bikes!!

And it is AMAZING how that number has in some way affected most of our lives!

Back in 72 I was working for a local Honda dealership spinning wrenches... I was heavy into racing at the time, MXing and Harescrambling.. Had a tricked out Yam 250 that I had been racing for 3 years... Ordered a brand new 1973 CR250M Elsinore thru the dealership I worked for (GREAT PEOPLE),, ended up with the 1st Elsie in West Michigan.. Flat out AMAZING bike!! 5 gear wheelies at the twist of the grip,, just a sweetheart!! A real piece of art work and definitely a winner!!

Honda has always had a way of producing winners after winners,, from that Honda Cub,, CL77, MiniTrail, SOHC 750, The Wing (early models were nothing compared to the Venture), Crotch Rockets and that aint even touching the 4x4 quads or two fiddy R 3 and 4 wheelers...

AMAZING COMPANY THATS FOR SURE!! :backinmyday:

a clean shaven Pucster!!!

you certainly have lived a fruitful and interesting life. Mine is quite boring by comparison. Wish I was born in the late 50's. I could have been around for all the cool stuff.

When I had my motorcycle shop back in the early 70's the 2 largest selling motorcycles in the US were new Honda 350 twins and used Honda 350 twins. Although I have owned many bikes over the years I had never owned a Honda.until I bought my 1500 trike. It is so well engineered it is incredible. This bike is 25 years old and still runs like a top. I loved all my Yamaha V4's, I don't love the Goldwing but it is such a great motorcycle it is easy to see why it has driven almost everyone else out of the luxury touring field. I wonder how long it will take them to get to 400,000,000?

Something to remember on those numbers. It is total motorcycles sold. So all those 50 and 70cc bikes you saw for decades in Vietnam, Thailand and third world countries were mainly Honda. But still that is a ton of work for people in that country. I remember when I would go to the PI when that base was still ours, you got to the main gate and could get a bike with a side car to take you just about anywhere in town. And there were hundreds of them.
