Marcarl Posted November 25, 2014 #26 Posted November 25, 2014 You continue on our prayer list bro. I was thinking some Plast-i-fix might be the ticket,,, though it's not cheap,, but for you I could spare a little. To do a good job though, we'd have to set you on your head, like upside down, until it sets proper,,,,, maybe not the answer after all. Best go with the Doc, he may have a better idea,,,, meantime: prayers forwarded for healing.
habfan Posted November 25, 2014 #27 Posted November 25, 2014 Hang in there Puc!! Know this for sure, you are not alone in this, we are all right there with you in our thoughts and prayers.
videoarizona Posted November 25, 2014 #28 Posted November 25, 2014 Kev, Wishing you and Tippy a Wonderful Thanksgiving! Prayers Up! d
The Tooch Posted November 25, 2014 #30 Posted November 25, 2014 Thanks for the thoughts and the feed back on my posts Oldgoat!! Never did hear that before about Olivia,,, learn something new everyday!! Now I gotta dig out her original Military maintenance manual and see if it says anything in there about it.. If it does I will snap a pic and post it up for kicks!! Brother,, you give that Great Uncle a hug for me and tell him I said THANK YOU for his service to the country (if he is a Vet) and that he is welcome to come by and lay hands on that Olivia ANYTIME whether he is a Vet or not!! You know how I feel about you Puc! Did some research for you. The wire cutters were never issued, just done in the feild by the troops as needed. Very common on Jeeps but rare on MC's. did find a photo of one for you. My regiment had wire cutters on all our jeeps when I was being payed to run around in them. But I saw other units that didn't have them. A Wire Cutter has been improvised on the front forks, a rather unusual feature on a motorcycle and more common on Jeeps in the ETO.
pbjman Posted November 25, 2014 #31 Posted November 25, 2014 Well, Cowpuc, I've got good news and bad news.... Good news is I think, nay, I KNOW, you'll get better and the brain drain will be plugged. You've got a lot of people praying for you on that! Bad news is, I think you'll still be smelling burning wires and fiberglass as long as you keep riding that ANTIQUE 1ST GEN!! God Bless You, Brother!
Yammer Dan Posted November 25, 2014 #32 Posted November 25, 2014 Antique?? How could anyone call a well preserved example of Master human technology a antique??? !!I got ya back Scott!! Gonna be a long winter with these 2nd genners talking trash!!
bongobobny Posted November 25, 2014 #33 Posted November 25, 2014 Oh Oh!! PBJman just opened a big jar of whoop ass on him. 1st gen's are not Harleys...
pbjman Posted November 25, 2014 #34 Posted November 25, 2014 I just did that cuz I knew Puc would have something...loveable to say about it when he gets here.
Venturous Randy Posted November 26, 2014 #35 Posted November 26, 2014 Bad news is, I think you'll still be smelling burning wires and fiberglass as long as you keep riding that ANTIQUE 1ST GEN!! QUOTE] No, maybe the smell of burning rubber. RandyA
Dragonslayer Posted November 26, 2014 #36 Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) This is pretty crazy stuff... I wanna share some insight into the symptoms of this path,, certainly NOT to scare anyone or to sound morbid, but strictly to inform!! For a while now I have been smelling weird smells (unwashed people in elevators) noticed a feeling of confusion, unusually irritable..(usually when confronted with disagreeable and obnoxious people) . A brain MRI confirmed it all.. Apparently,I have one. Fun eay,, NOT!! OMG I have it too:crying: Edited November 26, 2014 by Dragonslayer
billmac Posted November 26, 2014 #37 Posted November 26, 2014 So how did this happen? is it the glue from all the stickers or the clear coat you sprayed over the bugs on the bike? is the repair a plug or patch or are they going to replace the nose with a new one? When they get you all fixed up will you upgrade to a 2nd gen? or will tippy have to take over the front seat and move you to the back? Really want you to get better soon, praying for everything to be fixed and get you back on the road again, Willie is missing you.
Flyinfool Posted November 26, 2014 #38 Posted November 26, 2014 Hey old pucster. I just saw this from my deer stand while buried in snow up here in the UP. More prayers sent.
cowpuc Posted November 27, 2014 Author #39 Posted November 27, 2014 Puc, You'll be in Pennys an my thoughts and prayers. Listen to the docs. A similar thing happened to me in 2000. Mid Fossa surgery to the brain pan to extract a acoustic neuroma. Everything went well, but like you, there was clear salty fluid dripping from my nose. Doc said not to bend over (tying shoe laces etc...) as it would put undue pressure in my head. Kept a close eye on it for the next couple of days and it stopped leaking. Sounds like your in good hands... Just tell the docs to make sure you're all fixed up in time for riding season....LOL WOW!! That sounds VERY familiar Joe!! I must be a little low on the self sealing component cause mine has had a problem sealing for a good while now... Funny how a runny nose can mean a lot of different things! Glad yours sealed up,, wont be long and mine will be too and away we shall ride come riding season of 2015!!! Thanks for the encouragement You know how I feel about you Puc! Did some research for you. The wire cutters were never issued, just done in the feild by the troops as needed. Very common on Jeeps but rare on MC's. did find a photo of one for you. I looked all thru Olivia's Maintenance Manual and parts book and could find nothing that cutter,, I kinda figured what you found was probably the case.. I bet if the truth was known there were allllll kinds of stuff that those GI's did to these bikes during those horrible times that have long since been forgotten.. If it werent for the few remaining old hero soldiers who remember those days it would be lost forever... CHEERS to those Allied Soldiers!! Well, Cowpuc, I've got good news and bad news.... I just did that cuz I knew Puc would have something...loveable to say about it when he gets here. KEEP IT UP PB!! YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT OL PUC NEEDS MOST,, LITTLE RIBBIN,, LITTLE GOES A LONG LONG WAY BRO!! Truth is though,,, Tweeks has known nothing other than the Antique plates and registration that has adorned her for good while now,,, she is PROUD to be a wore out ol scoot,, especially when she goes flying by all this new fangdangled stuff,, tent flappin in da breeze,, Tip and I lapping up the wind as that new American flag that Raggie stuck her waves a gentle greeting to all those dotted lines disappearing behind her... Squids stator keeping her lights shining brite,, all those stickers and patches bearing the names of folks who are also there in spirit,,, some of who are antiques just like me and Tweeks... HOWS THAT FOR A LOVEABLE RESPONSE?? Antique?? How could anyone call a well preserved example of Master human technology a antique??? !!I got ya back Scott!! Gonna be a long winter with these 2nd genners talking trash!! THANKS DAN!! I always KNOW I can depend on ya bro,,, after all,, you and I - we KNOW all to well where the REAL Yamaha Venture heart resides :dancefool::stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot: Oh Oh!! PBJman just opened a big jar of whoop ass on him. 1st gen's are not Harleys... Got that right Bongo,,, but cha gotta admit,, those great big gorgeous Harleys are sooooooo much fun to play with while out riding a Yam.. OMG I have it too:crying: Stick with me Bob and maybe you can pick up on something that will fix ya up without having to go thru all these crazy tests,,, and needle poking,,, I feel like a pin cushion,, now I am leaking everywhere!! If they come up with some special epoxy or something I will definitely save ya some!!
