Condor Posted November 24, 2014 #1 Posted November 24, 2014 Ok, how do I get rid of the photoplog that appears at the top of every page when I get on the board??, also how do I limit the amount of posts that down load when doing a 'new post' search?? Right now I'm getting 9 plus pages @ 50 per page. All I want are the new posts. Also when I update my profile and choose the wysiwyg editor, save it, the damn thing changes back to basic. Frustrated....
naturbar Posted November 24, 2014 #2 Posted November 24, 2014 I have cut and pasted this info from a recent post....I followed these instructions and it worked....best of luck. "Freebird told us how to turn it off. Go to Settings at the top of the page and then scroll down and select General Settings. Scroll down until you see the option to "exclude forum from What New" to classifieds and ebay and turn it off and Right below the "links to craigslist/ebay" is "ebay listings". Exclude that one and you will get rid of the un-wanted ebay ads."
SilvrT Posted November 24, 2014 #3 Posted November 24, 2014 Ok, how do I get rid of the photoplog that appears at the top of every page when I get on the board??, I asked the same Q a while back ... the Boss's answer was "No, it can't be turned off. We had the same type pictures on the old site too and they couldn't be turned off either." Frankly, I don't recall seeing that on the old site.
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted November 24, 2014 #4 Posted November 24, 2014 having the Ebay and classifieds in the whats new is just great if your life revolves around ebay but most of us are not that into it.... I can google ebay anytime I feel the need. IF there was photos on the old site we must have been able to turn them off because they were never on my page. we also used to be able to minimize the stickys I think
SilvrT Posted November 25, 2014 #5 Posted November 25, 2014 IF there was photos on the old site we must have been able to turn them off because they were never on my page. ahhhhhh ... just remembered, there was a little "chevron - like" icon on the right of the screen where you could collapse or expand such things ... I think the cookies or something remember the "state" (collapsed or expanded). We don't have that now.
Freebird Posted November 25, 2014 #6 Posted November 25, 2014 We had photos at the top of the page on the old site. They were always there. I have told you how to get rid of all the eBay listings or the posts from any forum that you don't wish to see. It is the same method that was used on the old site. Nothing has changed in that regard. If you don't want to see them, exclude that forum and they will not show up under new posts. Most everything here works the same as it did before people. Now I can turn off the photoplog images for everybody but some like them. I will go with popular opinion but so far, I've only heard a handful of people that don't like them.
Freebird Posted November 25, 2014 #7 Posted November 25, 2014 I just made a programming change to the sticky threads. You can now collapse them by clicking on the chevron sign at the upper right corner of the sticky thread block. Condor, if you are losing your wysiwyg settings, it is something with your cookies or whatever. Advanced is actually the default so I have no idea why you would have to reset it even if you logout which you shouldn't.
Freebird Posted November 25, 2014 #8 Posted November 25, 2014 I think that most of these requests have been addressed. New software was installed that allows the photos at the top to be turned off. Ebay listings have been removed from New Posts and What's New. Sticky threads are now collapsable. If you miss something important posted there, don't come crying to me. Ebay is the only forum that I'm going to globally disable. If you want any others disabled, you can do it from your "general settings". Not everybody wants the same thing. Folks, I try very hard to give everybody what they want but the fact is, there is no way that I can please everybody. One person likes this, one person likes that, one person likes it all and another doesn't like anything. I try but please realize that not every single thing can be made customizable to your preferences. I will continue to do what I can to make it as much so as possible.

Click on Settings (top right corner) When the screen changes, click on General Settings on the Left sidebar. When the screen changes, scroll to the bottom. You will see " Exclude forums from "What's New":" Scroll the listbox so you can see -Links to classifieds, Craigslist, eBay -Ebay listings -Venturerider merchandise Click on the first one you don't want. Hold the Ctrl key down and subsequently click on each of the others you don't want. Click Save Changes That is all you need to do.

I, for one, understand and know it can be frustrating. Thank you Don for your efforts to please us.
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted November 26, 2014 #11 Posted November 26, 2014 Thanks Don, change is difficult for many of us and for many of us with minimal technical skills on a computer make it more even more difficult. I thank you for all the work and your tolerance of the whining from us.
