Can anyone recommend a good method of removing minor scratches on the fairing ? I know you can buy paint sticks with matching factory colors, anyone tried them ?

"minor paint scratches" is a matter of interpretation. Could you provide pics?

It's possible (if they're really "minor") to get them out with polishing compound or a good scratch remover product.

OK, maybe not so "minor". Attached pic is looking thru windshield at inside top of dash. Apparently, previous owner must have put something up there to make this "scratch". Just wondering what it will take to lose it as it's the only scratch I can find on the bike and I'm a stickler.

I have one in a saddle bag. My bags a red and black and the scratch shows up as white sort of. i figure that scratch is down to the base or primer or something. I have thought about maybe just using a sharpie to try t cover it up, but what if the color is to far off? So I have just left it alone. Your looks as though maybe you could try some of the color scratch remover stuff.

Doesn't look too deep, I'd try some scratch remover first.

I have used the stick and it worked for me. I had a few scratches on the front lowers and saddlebags where you could see white. You realy need to know they were there now. It filed them up but the color is just a tad darker than the surrounding area. Would add a picture, but it does not show.

You guys,, I have used this stuff called Plast-X to remove scratches and spider webbing from my windshields for years (have tried lots of other methods, found this stuff to actually work).. I get it from Walmart - last time I bought some I think it was under 5 bucks for a bottle.. I wouldnt be surprised that it would also work well for fiberglass cleaning too.. Stuff really works great on shields - Might be worth a try...

Mirider,, your in West Michigan,, I am right on the lake shore in North Muskegon,, be glad to give it a shot on your scoot if your in the area or stop by grab it and try it... Or,, I can find a spot on Tweeks fairing and see if it will clean it up,,, she is down stairs staying warm so it really wouldnt be a problem....

Another thing you can do is just put a sticker over the mark....LOL

either that or get a dark smoke shield ..... or do like I did and paint the bottom area of the shield black on the inside. Hides all sorts of things.... :dancefool:

Had the same problem with my red saddle bag lid. Fairly deep scars. In my case, I went to Shopper's Drug mart and talked with the person there who let me take out a bunch of bottles of finger nail polish to see if I could get a good colour match, which I did. That was four years ago. I am still happy with the end result although it is not perfect and I would not recommend for some types of scars. It also helped that I added saddle bag rails.

Long as we are on the subject,, here are a couple shots of my bike Tweeks.. Notice the fine sticker coverage that she has,,, far superior to any paint job or scratch removal process that can be purchased.. Only showing you this cause many folks have commented to the fine job we have done so far with Her but very very few have given thought to the costs involved with doing this.... Just wanted you to know that, yes,, she is gorgeous,, but also x3 of the cost of even the best of the best paint jobs!!!! Worth all the time, $$'s and effort though!!!

Being my neighbor,, let me know if you need help finding some of these Michigan's finest stickers,, like the Bliss Michigan sticker on Tweeks,,, I will help you find them if you want me too Mirider!!

Well, either CowPuc believes in plast-X ...... or he's working for them!! Lol. Hey puc, I saw your suggestion to me about my windshield in the 'winter projects' thread, I'll give it a try. thanks!

MIrider, that scratch doesn't look to bad so good luck with the cosmetic repair and the move!
