MasterGuns Posted November 11, 2014 #1 Posted November 11, 2014 Just arrived home from chemo and visiting my daughter and to my surprise nobody remembered that today; November 10, is the 239th birthday of the U.S. MARINE CORPS. So, to all you former "Leathernecks", ohhhhhhhrahhhhhh, Semper Fi and Happy Birthday. Once a Marine; always a Marine. Semper Fi MasterGuns

Marines was given the slang term "Jarhead" a very long time ago not because their head may or may not fit in a jar. Rather "we" was tagged with the term "jarhead" because of "lids". A lid is a cover. And a cover is a hat for all those that don't know that. Just a little about Marine Corps history.
