Freebird Posted November 10, 2014 #1 Posted November 10, 2014 ChrisM has been working on the Venture History pages and I think has done an absolutely fantastic job. Now bear in mind that he was working from the history page that I had up already and some of the information for later years is missing. I'll get that added soon. In the meantime, take a look at the new history section of VentureRider.org I will create a permanent link to it later. http://www.venturerider.org/history/index.php
eagleeye Posted November 10, 2014 #3 Posted November 10, 2014 Thanks for all of your hard work Chris, It looks great! and nice to have back
Prairiehammer Posted November 10, 2014 #5 Posted November 10, 2014 Thank you Chris and Don, looks great! There are many errors in the table of 1986-1993 colors. I submit for your approval the correct colors in the attached Word Doc.History of the Yamaha Venture 1986-1993 Colors.docx
M61A1MECH Posted November 11, 2014 #6 Posted November 11, 2014 The photo for the Royal Star 1996 to 2001 is not correct, the photo is of a later model Venture based Tour DeLuxe that was only made from 2005 to 2010. if you need a photo of say a 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic I have some , just tell me you to send them to.

You are right. If you have a good quality photo that kind of matches the others.....that would be great.
Freebird Posted November 11, 2014 Author #9 Posted November 11, 2014 I also need to find the colors for the 2008 and newer RSV and RSTDs.
Freebird Posted November 11, 2014 Author #10 Posted November 11, 2014 I think I've got all the Second Gen Venture colors updated correctly. Let me know if any are wrong. I'll do the Second Gen RSTD models next.
Freebird Posted November 11, 2014 Author #11 Posted November 11, 2014 OK...I think I've got the RSTD colors right. The older Royal Stars will take a while. Won't get to them right away. I also added link in the Navbar at the top of the page. History.
M61A1MECH Posted November 11, 2014 #12 Posted November 11, 2014 You are right. If you have a good quality photo that kind of matches the others.....that would be great. Don, I am on travel until Friday, when I get home I will see if I have similar quality photos and send them to you.
Freebird Posted November 11, 2014 Author #13 Posted November 11, 2014 Thanks but I found one that I think looks pretty good.
Prairiehammer Posted November 11, 2014 #14 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) OK Kevin, I update the colors based upon your input. I hope you are right. There have been arguments about this before. My submission is correct, there can be no argument. All the colors are from official Yamaha documents and sources. However, the chart still has a couple errors. The 1986 Venture Royale model designation should be 'DS/DSC' not 'DS/DT'. The DT is for 1987. The 1987 Royale model designation should be 'DT/DTC' not 'DS/DT'. Freebird Posted November 11, 2014 Author #16 Posted November 11, 2014 OK...I know it's a long shot but does anybody have the colors for the first gen Royal Stars?
Prairiehammer Posted November 11, 2014 #17 Posted November 11, 2014 OK...I know it's a long shot but does anybody have the colors for the first gen Royal Stars? Don, I haven't researched the Royal Star colors as much as the 1986-1993 Ventures, so I am not 100% confident the Royal Star colors in the Word document below are accurate. The Royal Star colors were obtained by perusing the parts fiche. Royal Star, 1996-2001 Colors.docx
camos Posted November 11, 2014 #19 Posted November 11, 2014 86-93 Specs page

Engien - Total oil capacity 5 US qts/4.7L/4.1 Imp qt

Prairiehammer Posted November 11, 2014 #20 Posted November 11, 2014 86-93 Specs page

Engien - Total oil capacity 5 US qts/4.7L/4.1 Imp qt

Not only is 'engine' spelled incorrectly, but more importantly, the listed oil capacity is incorrect (way too much oil). Yes, I know, that is what is listed in the Service Manual for Total Oil Capacity, but if you put 5 US quarts in the engine after draining the crankcase and changing the filter, you will have seriously overfilled the crankcase. I believe the '5 US quarts' is what you MAY have to add if the engine crankcase and various oil lines were empty, as in a fresh engine rebuild. We have had several add 5 US quarts as a result of this Service Manual citation and have encountered the typical oil blowing out into the air box. According to the Yamaha Service Manual: Periodic Oil change: 3.5L (3.1 Imp. Qt, 3.7 US Qt) With Oil Filter Replacement: 3.8L (3.3 Imp. Qt, 4.0 US Qt)
Freebird Posted November 11, 2014 Author #21 Posted November 11, 2014 A lot of things would be wrong based upon our personal experience. The RSV capacities are too much also. Those numbers are from Yamaha though.
StarFan Posted November 12, 2014 #22 Posted November 12, 2014 Greetings Don. Some years ago I did some research of the Royal Stars colors for the 1996 to 2001 models. I should still have it somewhere on an old computer and will see if I can find it. If not I will do the research again and send you the info.
Freebird Posted November 12, 2014 Author #23 Posted November 12, 2014 Thanks Jonas. I have added the colors but am not 100% sure that they are correct. At least there is something there and those that don't know any better won't know the difference.
