Venturous Randy Posted November 9, 2014 #1 Posted November 9, 2014 I posted earlier about loosing the ability to highlite my post and then click on font, then size and then color after the site change. Now, this feature does not work the way it did. I got 75 views on the post and the only responses were me adding what I was finding. Am I the only one that has had this issue? I do notice a lot less color and font changes than before. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?89479-Lost-size-of-letters-and-color RandyA
Flyinfool Posted November 9, 2014 #2 Posted November 9, 2014 This is a test This is only a test If this were anything but a test There would be something useful on here. I did not have to rehighlight for each change. I highlighted the text then selected the font, color and size, I tried different orders of selecting font, color, and size, each time and it made no difference, it always worked as expected.
Flyinfool Posted November 9, 2014 #3 Posted November 9, 2014 If you select the font, size, and color before you start typing then you do not have to select the text to change. BUT, If you select font size and color and then click in the text box before you start typing it will revert back to the default. I have not yet found a place where I can set my default Font, size and or color. I have to make the changes each time I start a post.
Venturous Randy Posted November 9, 2014 Author #4 Posted November 9, 2014 Ok, we will see how this works. I have never tried doing all the options before I started typing. If you figure how to set a default, please let me know. Thanks Jeff. RandyA Edit, well, it didn't work.
saddlebum Posted November 10, 2014 #5 Posted November 10, 2014 To be honest I have not had any issues. Whether I set my fonts, color bold etc before I type or whether I highlight the text and change it after I type it all seems to be working fine. The only thing I did notice if I go back to a post while in the middle of typing a reply I no longer lose what I have already typed like I used to in the old forum.
Condor Posted November 10, 2014 #6 Posted November 10, 2014 The only problem I have with this editor is it isn't a WYSIWYG like the old editor, and the mods don't appear until the message is posted. You will see the HTML coding before posting.
Freebird Posted November 10, 2014 #7 Posted November 10, 2014 Actually it is WYSIWYG. I never change my fonts and etc. but just tried it and I was seeing exactly how I set everything as I typed. If you are not seeing WYSIWYG, you might was to check your settings.
Condor Posted November 10, 2014 #8 Posted November 10, 2014 Thanks... Found the switch. It's the upper left icon box of the editor controls...
Venturous Randy Posted November 10, 2014 Author #9 Posted November 10, 2014 Thanks... Found the switch. It's the upper left icon box of the editor controls... OK, where is editor controls? RandyA
Condor Posted November 10, 2014 #10 Posted November 10, 2014 QUOTE=Venturous Randy;871415]OK, where is editor controls? RandyA They are right on top of the text box. All those icons. Font Size, Font, etc.[
dingy Posted November 11, 2014 #11 Posted November 11, 2014 I posted a thread about Text Editor settings on site that may be cause of issue in original post. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?89680-Changing-Text-Editor-settings-on-new-forum-site-directions&p=871498#post871498 Gary
Venturous Randy Posted November 11, 2014 Author #12 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) OK, I did what Dingy said and we will see what happens now. RandyA Well, the only thing that worked was the 1st one I clicked on, which was font. OK, I checked the settings and it did not save the change, even though I got the box thanking me for updating. I tried several times and it would not save the change and went back to Standard Settings. Edited November 11, 2014 by Venturous Randy
Eck Posted November 11, 2014 #13 Posted November 11, 2014 Testing.. trying new settings........[/FONT] Nope.. not working right for me either Randy.. I Typed the above (Testing.. trying new settings.....) then I highlighted it and clicked on "Comic Sans MS" and it didn't change the font to Comic Sans. This time it did. Hum.. I'll keep playing till I get it.
Condor Posted November 11, 2014 #14 Posted November 11, 2014 Another thing that might need addressing is the missing 'go to last post' button that we had on the last system. Also last read... If they're there I can't find them??
Freebird Posted November 11, 2014 #15 Posted November 11, 2014 It's there. Red button on far right at the beginning of a thread.
Venturous Randy Posted November 11, 2014 Author #16 Posted November 11, 2014 Trying something else and it worked. RandyA
Freebird Posted November 11, 2014 #17 Posted November 11, 2014 As for the first unread, it's there also. You click on a thread and there is a gray bar above the first post, at least it's gray in the red theme, if there are any unread posts there will be a link in that gray bar that says "First Unread". Actually, you don't even have to click on the thread. In the list of threads there is also button. A round red button on the left side IF there are any new/unread posts.
Freebird Posted November 11, 2014 #18 Posted November 11, 2014 Here you go. Makes it easier for everybody.
1rooster Posted November 12, 2014 #19 Posted November 12, 2014 I am so confused I am gonna back in the cave and listen to my reel to reel:bagpipes-emoticon:
1rooster Posted November 12, 2014 #21 Posted November 12, 2014 Dang...I even drew you a picture. I understood the picture. It's the fonts, colors and all the other things I don't understand but I can live with that.Maybe I am behind the times but I still listen to music on my reel to reel and cassettes.I still use VHS tapes and I have a few BETA tapes and 8 track tapes.
Venturous Randy Posted November 12, 2014 Author #22 Posted November 12, 2014 I have been very frustrated with my laptop and yesterday morning about 2:30 am I decided to wipe it clean. I did save my documents and pictures to a thumb drive after saving all my favorites and restored it back to factory settings. Now it is fast again and when I went on VR, the change I tried to make earlier was saved and now I have the font, size and color control I had before. Thanks everyone. RandyA
