RIB III Posted November 5, 2014 #1 Posted November 5, 2014 Went away for a week. Went out to start the bike this morning and no tic tic tic from the fuel pump. This pump is only 1.5 years old UGH!!!!!
djh3 Posted November 5, 2014 #2 Posted November 5, 2014 In your case I would recommend taking a look at the points in the pump. At that age I would think they are not too burned up and a few swipes with a small file or some sand paper may fix it. Well until the next time. I put together a "how to" on the conversion to the solid state Mr Gasket pump complete with what parts are needed. Its in the 2nd gen tech section.
XV1100SE Posted November 5, 2014 #3 Posted November 5, 2014 My '09 is under warranty until April 2015. You still covered under warranty? Just a thought...but are you sure the dealer replaced your old fuel pump? Could be they cleaned the contacts and put it back in. I'm sure you've taken the side cover off to look at it....does it look new or does it have 5 years worth of road grime on it? If it is warranty....ask to see the old one.
RIB III Posted November 5, 2014 Author #4 Posted November 5, 2014 Warranty is over. And no I have not looked at the pump to see if they acually changed it I will look when I get home.
