I know they say you are supposed to ____________ , but I always _____________.

Many people like to do things their own way, even if "THEY" say you should do it a certain way. Sometimes these rebels even know they are doing it wrong but have a reason! So who's got one?

I'll start:

THEY say you're supposed to turn your handlebars to the left when on the sidestand, but I always turn them to the right. The reason for me: It's easier. That's all. Never even considered putting them left because then my knee hits the handlebar or mirror when I mount/dismount. Plus I like the way the bike leans a little bit less with the bars to the right. My Maxim has steering lock to the right or left, but my Venture seems to only have it to the left, so I guess I'll be doing that way sometimes.

"They" say "this is the way we've always done it".

I say "just because you've always done it that way, doesn't mean it the right way or that there isn't a better way"

Some folk are just too afraid of change.

As for the steering of the bike, I leave mine straight. Why? because "that's the way I've always done it" :stickinouttounge::rotf::rotf::rotf:

Someone on this site once posted about the weight on the side stand being different depending on how you left the front wheel. Do not recall the exact numbers maybe someone does.

I normally leave my front straight unless i am in a place i feel i should lock up

Unfortunately, Victory didn't engineer a locking mechanism ... maybe they figured nobody would dare to steal a Vic ?

I've added a caliper lock plus an alarm system that even has a "near to" feature, meaning if someone even gets close to it, the alarm will sound.

I think you'll find it easier to stand back up with the wheel turned left. Maybe that doesn't bother you yet, but if you get older or suffer from other weaknesses you might find it helpful. Presently I don't have a side stand and I can't seem to locate a center stand either, so I just leave it pointed straight ahead, kind of handy not having to worry about that anymore, fun tooooo!

I usually turn mine to the left (before and after I "triked" it) but depending on the parking ground contours I sometimes turn it to the right. My 2009 RSV has locking on both the left and right steering locks.

I have no choice. in order to fit a little more than 8 feet of bike into an 8 foot shed I have to turn the steering full right as it hitd the corner of the shed. So it is just habit that I always turn the steering right. I don't even know if the steering lock works on my bike.

I know they say you are supposed to drink your alcohol, but I always eat mine.
