mirider Posted November 1, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 1, 2014 Trying to familiarize myself with all the features of my new Venture. In my manual there is mention and a picture of an auxiliary DC jack. For the life of me I can't seem to locate it. Can anyone tell me where I should be looking ? M61A1MECH Posted November 1, 2014 Share #2 Posted November 1, 2014 It is on the back side of the fairing on the left side, it has a black rubber cover on it , not visible when you are sitting in the seat.
mirider Posted November 1, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted November 1, 2014 Got it - thanks M61, must have been a senior moment cause I was looking all over the body and frame of the bike and never even thought to look in that location. You have to bend way down to see it. Used to a bike with just a windshield, not a fairing.
Skid Posted November 1, 2014 Share #4 Posted November 1, 2014 There is also another one inch hole under the seat on the left side that you can add another DC outlet. Easy to install because it is very close to the battery and makes it handy when you're charging a device. I got one with a rubber cover to from a local auto store. mirider Posted November 1, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted November 1, 2014 Yeah, I have a wire running out that opening with a capped plug on it. Was told by dealer it was for battery charging but can also be used as outlet with proper matching plug. I found it right away but the one in the fairing was not easy to spot not knowing where to look.
Mike G in SC Posted November 1, 2014 Share #6 Posted November 1, 2014 And watch out for that button right next to the 12v DC outlet in the fairing. In case you didn't know, it is the passenger ejection seat. Now I am curious if you will try it,,,,,, when your wife is on or off?

djh3 Posted November 2, 2014 Share #9 Posted November 2, 2014 Far as I know the aux power out let was on them from 99 on. I know where it is and half the time if I dont have the double outlet plugged in I cant find it. Its on the left of the faring as sitting on bike, just under the "roll" where the speaker is. You almost have to get off the bike and look with a flashlight.
Skid Posted November 2, 2014 Share #10 Posted November 2, 2014 I have my GPS plugged into the outlet on the dash so that is why I added the second one under the seat to charge my phone. I may eventually add one inside the trunk.

MikeWa Posted November 2, 2014 Share #13 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) The auxiliary plug under the riders seat is a white two wire connector. It will have both the male and female ends of the plug but it will not have two of the pins that go inside. Why they are not included I do not know. To use this plug you will need to come up with the pins or modify the connector. Mike P.S. I ordered the pins from here. http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__Products/Connectors/connectors.html They do have a minimum order amount but if a few people get together it is doable. vzuden Posted November 2, 2014 Share #14 Posted November 2, 2014 I used the white connector under the seat by tinning two wires with solder and jamming them into the empty connector. Plugged that connector into the one connected to the bike and it has held for a few thousand miles. I used this to feed ignition on power to my passing lamp relay
djh3 Posted November 2, 2014 Share #15 Posted November 2, 2014 The plug for the "Aux" under the seat has a blank in it. I dont have a clue why. Steve (M61amech) may make a plug that goes right in there. I actually had a old harness off something laying around and pulled it apart and used a pin out of it. If Steve cant hook you up let me know, I think I have a connector I can send ya.
