Tisunac Posted October 23, 2014 #1 Posted October 23, 2014 I would like to install a set of Sonic Springs on my '99 Venture. I have them installed on my 2006 Vstrom and it greatly improved the overall handling of the bike. Does somebody have a step-by-step instructions how to install them? Also, your input about installing them or not would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, guys.
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted October 23, 2014 #2 Posted October 23, 2014 Tisunac, most of the Ventures use Progressive Springs that I have heard of.... likely same thing different brand. That being said, I have not seen a procedure for installing them in a second gen Venture. I did install them in my '86 and loved what they did for the ride. Here is a link, it is a Canadian site but it will give you the idea. http://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/progressive-suspension-fork-springs.html
Freebird Posted October 23, 2014 #3 Posted October 23, 2014 Actually, most of the first gen riders use Progressive and I think they are a great choice for that bike. For the RSV, I think that Sonic is the better choice. I had them on my '99 and loved them. Unfortunately, there is no write up here on installation.
Tisunac Posted October 23, 2014 Author #4 Posted October 23, 2014 Do you know do I need to remove the fairing?
Freebird Posted October 23, 2014 #5 Posted October 23, 2014 Yes, remove it or at least unbolt it and get it out of the way. When we did mine, we removed it completely. It can be done by just unbolting it and tying it up and out of the way without unhooking all the wires and etc.
Sylvester Posted October 23, 2014 #6 Posted October 23, 2014 I installed Baron's gold emulators in my 02 RSMV and have enjoyed them for 195,000 miles.
