My son's Shadow seems to be running hot on the rear cylinder. I rode it the other day and why would the front cylinder be cooler than the rear. I think maybe the rear carb is running lean. Any thoughts?

Either rich or lean will result in some unburned fuel entering the exhaust where it oxidizes creating hotter exhaust gasses. My 1st gen has exhaust so cool that I can place my hand over and contacting the end of the exhaust without burning.
