spear Posted October 14, 2014 #1 Posted October 14, 2014 Forty years ago next Sunday my pillion-in-a-million said "I do." So to celebrate we're going to head to the nation's capital and have a good time - all by our selves. Three nights booked in to a luxury hotel and all the galleries, museums and theatres at our doorstep. Should go off alright I reckon. BTW - did I mention I got married on my birthday so I'd remember our anniversary? Now let's see - - I was 23 when I married, so that makes me . . . Still young!

Howard B Posted October 15, 2014 #8 Posted October 15, 2014 Three days in DC is not near enough time to see all there is to see. When the wife and I took our granddaughter to DC I figured I could go to the air and space museum for a week and the "girls" could go see everything else. I learned that was a silly thought. A month in DC would not be enough. Also, if you drive to DC, parking is almost impossible to find. Good luck with the trip.
Bubber Posted October 15, 2014 #9 Posted October 15, 2014 FYI Spear is from Australia. Going to his capital not ours.
spear Posted October 19, 2014 Author #11 Posted October 19, 2014 FYI Spear is from Australia. Going to his capital not ours. Yo Bubber! I let that one slide buddy. And FWIW, I'm (we're) back. We had a fantastic four days away. Never stopped When we arrived at our hotel there was an express parcel waiting for us at reception. Our three kids had sent us a box of chocolates for the theatre and a fresh and crisp $100 bill to spend on our anniversary dinner - which we duly did. Another year down and lots to go. Gotta love life!
