M61A1MECH Posted October 12, 2014 #1 Posted October 12, 2014 This is pretty clever if you like camping and trailering. http://idahobedroll.com/#
Skid Posted October 12, 2014 #2 Posted October 12, 2014 I like it. I've said for years I would like go have a miniature tear drop.
Barrycuda Posted October 12, 2014 #3 Posted October 12, 2014 From the pics and video, didn't seem like it had any sort of protection from rain or bugs. Also, it says patent pending. Not sure if it'll get to manufacturing. Again, for me, I'm concerned about the rain or bugs.
Brake Pad Posted October 12, 2014 #4 Posted October 12, 2014 after traveling back from New Jersey from the IR run that I briefly left on my return trip home I found myself sleeping outside at the North Carolina welcome center at that point in time I decided it was time to buy one of those cot tent sleepers, so this way if I ever needed to stop the rain or too dark to ride I can pull in somewhere and set up my tent cot and have a safe place to sleep.
Venturous Posted October 12, 2014 #5 Posted October 12, 2014 A backpacking hammock would take far less room and provide about as much protection as this thing or more. I'll pass.
TDunc Posted October 12, 2014 #6 Posted October 12, 2014 Yep, hammock camping can't be beat. Check pics below:thumbsup2:
CaptainJoe Posted October 12, 2014 #7 Posted October 12, 2014 A backpacking hammock would take far less room and provide about as much protection as this thing or more. I'll pass. While I agree, that would be the lightest possible solution, it requires something in close proximity to tie it to and I still wouldn't be able to use it as I NEVER sleep on my back. Prefer to sleep on my stomach with my feet hanging off the end of the bed.
Venturous Posted October 12, 2014 #8 Posted October 12, 2014 I can't hammock camp either. Sleep apnea. But as as scout leader... I see a lot who do. If the fellow comes up with some sort of cover tent... that thing might work OK for a single rider.
suds Posted October 12, 2014 #9 Posted October 12, 2014 http://www.hennessyhammock.com/ For those that can sleep in a hammock I swear by this one. Very comfortable and the lines are long so you don't need to find trees that are close together. I've had mine for about 5 years and I hate sleeping in a tent on the ground now. TDunc Posted October 19, 2014 #10 Posted October 19, 2014 Proper hammock camping does NOT require you to sleep on your back. Mine are cut Asymmetrical so that I can actually lie flat on side or stomach. Check out hammockforums for all kinds of info. I can not sleep on my back either and I sleep like a baby in the hammock.
Venturous Randy Posted November 2, 2014 #11 Posted November 2, 2014 If you read the comments, here does appear to be some type covering available to go over it, even though he does not show it. RandyA

droupou Posted October 20, 2015 #13 Posted October 20, 2015 I realize this is an old post, but the hennessy hammock sleeps fairly flat. I often sleep on my stomach in it.
Larry1963 Posted October 21, 2015 #14 Posted October 21, 2015 I like the idea, like you I want to be out of the rain and bugs. I live in South GA there are plenty of bugs around
