syscrusher Posted October 10, 2014 #1 Posted October 10, 2014 I'm just wondering if I should be thinking about a replacement? The engine guard on that side seems to have a tab that rests inside this dent perfectly.
ricksbike Posted October 10, 2014 #2 Posted October 10, 2014 No,not supposed to be dented, just had mine off and had no dents, will need new o-rings to reseal.
Venturous Randy Posted October 10, 2014 #3 Posted October 10, 2014 While you have the guard off, grind about a 1/4 inch off to give you more clearance and remove the sharp edge where it is near the elbow. Also, if it is bent from the bike being dropped, you will need to pry the guard away from the engine some more. I think those elbows new now are about $50. Another one of those "fifty cents to make" parts that are outrageously priced. RandyA
Flyinfool Posted October 10, 2014 #4 Posted October 10, 2014 That is a real common dent. Guaranteed to start leaking coolant at some point. Might as well replace it now, and do Randys mods to the guard, AND stop dropping it on that side.....
Condor Posted October 10, 2014 #5 Posted October 10, 2014 Put your foot on the guard and bend it back out to where it's supposed to be. If you want to replace the tube for cosmetics reasons, go ahead, but if it doesn't leak and you don't mind the blem.... ride it...
comingbackdown Posted October 10, 2014 #6 Posted October 10, 2014 Definitely not supposed to be there. Ask me how I know.
