yamahamer Posted March 19, 2008 Author #5 Posted March 19, 2008 OOPS! WRONG CITY. SOMEBODY DELETE THIS POST.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted March 19, 2008 #6 Posted March 19, 2008 I've been thru that area many times...typical of the outlying towns around the metroplex, there is a lot of traffic to deal with on I-30, but if you have a local job and dont have to use the main hiway much, its a nice part of Texas to live in...your close to Dallas, (and Rockwall) with all that has to offer, but also close to lakes for fishing and boating, and some nice little 2 lane country roads to cruise and explore. Kind've a 'back-woods meets the city' type of living...A fair amount of trees, and pretty nice weather most of the year. Hot and humid in the summer is the norm. Not a whole lot of wind. It is on the edge of tornado alley, and severe storms in the spring are a factor. Decent rainfall, not a lot of snow or ice in the winter. There are a few ice storms per year, but in a day or two its all over. People are mostly friendly, with some good bike rallies and parties nearly all year long within a few hours ride. Cost of housing is moderately high, but competition keeps costs of basic living expenses reasonable. Gas prices are about average. Best of all, in Texas, no state income tax, although property and sales taxes kinda make up for that. Thats pretty much what I know about the area....maybe someone else has more to contribute.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted March 19, 2008 #7 Posted March 19, 2008 Ok...did I post that for nothing? Hmmm...which city are you thinking about moving to? Royse City or somewhere else?
