Freebird Posted March 19, 2008 #2 Posted March 19, 2008 I get a LOT of emails. Sometimes 600+ per day. I go through them pretty quickly and delete the majority. Then I go back and read through them again. I reply to any questions about the site, a member having problems logging in, etc. Answer any that ask a question about the bikes. I do enjoy many of the ones that get forwarded to me that are just fun or inspirational but one thing I will not do. I may read and enjoy but when it says "forward to 10 friends in the next 24 hours and blah blah blah...." that is NOT going to happen. Sorry, I just think those are nonsense.
Guest ReinyRooster Posted March 19, 2008 #3 Posted March 19, 2008 Amen Don, I agree wholeheartedly. I hate those, and refuse to participate in them. I have set-up a few subfolders within my email program and then when I get an email that I want to keep, to drag it into the appropriate folder so I have it later if or when I need it again.

Sorry, I just think those are nonsense. the ones like this id like to send most of the time i copy and paste them to a new email then edit them so it dont have the send to 10 people in ten minutes or the and send it back to me on it I send a lot of emails on but i delete 90% of what i get too
BEER30 Posted March 19, 2008 #6 Posted March 19, 2008 I like e-mail , but what URKS me is the "forwards" . Why can't people just forward from the main e-mail form the get go . To constantly click onto the forward attachment 4,5,6,7,8,9,etc.... times to get the the the forwarded e-mail at interest . I will only go past 2 attachments only before I just hit the "delete" button ! Or just simply C & P and make only one e-mail portion . It just takes away from my beer drinking time clicking on all these "forwards" ! :rotf: BEER30
buddy Posted March 19, 2008 #7 Posted March 19, 2008 I like e-mails as well, but donot do the to 5-10 people thing those go to file 13.. I stay in touch with a lot of my friends by email and enjoy all the jokes I receive as well. So yes I use my e-mail alot . There are some things I delete that I donot like but I still enjoy seeing my friends by email very much.
Eck Posted March 19, 2008 #8 Posted March 19, 2008 I hate those emails too..(forward to 5 or 10 people). This is what I copy and paste in a reply to those folks who send me those junk emails... Need sound ....... http://info.org.il/irrelevant/may02-...p-soapbox4.swf
rosebud Posted March 19, 2008 #9 Posted March 19, 2008 That's great Eck! I save that link and will have to use it on my next forward. I am very selective in my email. I have certain people and or groups that I have rules set up for that automatically move their email to specific folders, including the delete folder, to get their mail out of my inbox and I read them when I get around to it. I cut and paste anything I want to forward into a new email, unless it's for work where I need the email trail. But as far as jokes and or forwards, if I am going to send it on, I am going to clean it up first. But what about addresses - if you send something to multiple people, do you put everyone's email address in the TO: field, or do you use the BCC so that no one can see the other addresses it was sent to?
Sailor Posted March 19, 2008 #10 Posted March 19, 2008 I enjoy e mails and even forward the good ones. I just delete anything that says to forward to 10 friends etc. Before forwarding an e mail I hit "FORWARD" then type in the address but before hitting "SEND" I delete all previous addresses. Just click on to the start of the addresses and hold down the "DELETE" button, then send.
Eck Posted March 19, 2008 #11 Posted March 19, 2008 But what about addresses - if you send something to multiple people, do you put everyone's email address in the TO: field, or do you use the BCC so that no one can see the other addresses it was sent to? Heck, I just hit reply and send it to the person (or people) that is already in the distribution list.. I never forward emails that contain the "send or else" junk in them..
bongobobny Posted March 19, 2008 #12 Posted March 19, 2008 Yah, I enjoy the form letter emails but don't forward them either. Just don 't have the time...
1BigDog Posted March 20, 2008 #13 Posted March 20, 2008 Eck, that was hysterical.....loved the burning bush part. :rotf:
Eugene Posted March 20, 2008 #14 Posted March 20, 2008 I guess I'm a bit more "hard core"?? If I see FW, I immediately delete without opening. If a person wants to send me an e-mail and cannot take the time to make it look like an original - I'm not interested. If I think something is worthwhile forwarding - I'll make it look like it came from me. Again, if I cannot take the time to make it personal, I'm not sending it. Just my .01 cents worth (that's Canadian for .02 cents U.S.)
Bigfoot Posted March 20, 2008 #15 Posted March 20, 2008 Something else to add. I found an e-mail in my junk folder the other day. I almost deleted it but something caught my eye in the subject line. It was an update on an upcoming Va. M&E. We really should put in the subject line something like VR.ORG or something similar so others don't delete anything by mistake from someone on this site. Just a thought.
MAINEAC Posted March 20, 2008 #16 Posted March 20, 2008 what do you do with e-mails,you like to read and want to send on,not talking about trash, but things that are good, don't want to bomb bard,my frends with, things they mite not care about WOW...
