Iphone talking to cars pcm

Well I been turning wrenches for 30+yrs and never heard this course back in the days we had no cellphones either

 

last night I was talking to Snarleybill about some issues about the international rally info missing and come to find out it was my Iphone had issues as it would not load up some items on the forum dug out my old laptop that only works part of the time and found the info was there all along so I knew my iphone was acting up ?

 

So I took my phone in this morning to replace it or be checked over and the lady looked my phone over then asked if I ever turn the phone off and I said no as its my main phone plus its my 24/7 on call so she removed the battery for a few mins and installed battery and it started working good she also asked if I have a ford car or truck and I said yes why ?? she stated then when car or truck is off while charging the phone it will try to link with the pcm and this causes issues with the phone and cars pcm OK I said thinking she was nuts !

so I called Tim a old friend from the ford house and asked about this and he started laughing and said its true !!! Really wow dint know this and he went into telling me when this happens at times it will lock the pcm up on the car or truck not allow it to start because the two were trying to talk to each other even jumping it off will not work he stated that when this happens you must remove battery cables from the car battery and touch the cable ends together for a few seconds and this will reboot the pcm in the car or truck. hook the cables back up to the battery and start your car he said he done several of these and is now asking cust first hand if their charging their Iphones in the cars.

I would have never thought of this and being a mechanic for so long makes me feel old now

Yes They are building in future capability so if you are ever speeding your car will automatically send you a ticket via your e-mail. It will also notify local authorities in your behalf.
