Rear shock losing air

My rear shock is losing its air slowly. Usually takes a few days. Whether I'm riding or not. Thinking of replacing the valve at the filler as its such a slow leak. Anyone experienced this?

Check the bottom of the shock for fluid. The OEM shock is a weakness in the RSV. If replacing the Schraeder valve works, great. However, I doubt it.

 

Expect to get familiar with Works and Hagan. Two shock manufacturers that fit the RSV. Both high quality and rebuildable. Look around on here for multiple threads about them.

I wouldnt mess around with it.....if you can shell out the 250-300 for the new shock i would do it. that thing is a GIANT piece of ****. I had to replace mine last summer in 90 degree heat in Charleston SC because the fluid decided to explode in my storage unit.

I would say replace the valve core. for $1 or so its worth a try. If the shock is in deed bad the Hagon runs just under $500 shipped to your door custom built. I think actually its $489 or something. I just put one in a fellows bike a month or so ago.

btw the air chamber and the common oil seal failure have ---ZERO--- connection,

do as others have stated and replace the valve core and most likely your concern will be corrected.

Its good to hear that. I do intent to replace the shock with probably the Hagon & also heavier fork springs but was going to wait til spring. Just dont like the 'feel' of the air preload. A very nice feature but just too used to wound steel I guess.

Air Valve changed didnt cure it. Still losing pressure over a few days.....,guess I'll live with it until I tear the bike down in the winter to do many small projects.
