spartikus Posted September 27, 2014 #1 Posted September 27, 2014 I am aware of the great oil debates I have read nothing but great things about Rotella T 15w40 in these old bikes. I don't think putting the new T6 synthetic in is the way to go but the Original Rotella T 15w40 is ok right? It has the JAS/MA cert on the back and seems to be what folks can agre eon as a decent oil. My riding will be mostly limited to long highway rides. Any thoughts?
Prairiehammer Posted September 27, 2014 #2 Posted September 27, 2014 That's what I use, ever since Yamalube 20W-40 became unavailable.
93 venture Posted September 27, 2014 #3 Posted September 27, 2014 been using it for years, good stuff!
Venturous Randy Posted September 27, 2014 #4 Posted September 27, 2014 I use it in my bike, my I35 Infiniti and my riding lawn mower. RandyA
spartikus Posted September 27, 2014 Author #5 Posted September 27, 2014 Thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't some other Rotella variant folks were using. I use the 15w40 diesel stuff in my old cars too. Great stuff.
dna9656 Posted October 12, 2014 #6 Posted October 12, 2014 I called Shell and they said the gas engine Rotella would work in motorcycles even though the label doesn't address the issue. Shell said it passes the requirements for fluid clutch use.

Just sayin....
jdross440 Posted October 21, 2014 #9 Posted October 21, 2014 Rotella T is what I use also. I have 3 Dodge diesels and my 1st Gen. All get the Rotella T. Oil analysis always shows all wear elements are almost nil. Oil analysis company told me it was one of the best for motorcycles and they told me to run it 5K miles and recheck but I change at 3K. Engine is quieter and seems to run cooler on it than auto oil. I tried the T6 once and the engine was noisy at idle.
