frankd Posted September 26, 2014 #1 Posted September 26, 2014 Barb and I are in Mufreesboro TN. We were crossing over I-24, and there were two lanes of traffic waiting to turn onto the interstate. We were in the 4th lane from the left that went straight. Just as we approached the far side, a new, white 4wd Ford pickup started to make a sloppy U-turn, and it looked like he was going to take my lane. I turned to the right hard, and as I looked to the left, he was close. I braced for the impact, but kept turning to the right. I waited for the crash, but what I heard was his tires scrubbing. He finished his U turn about 1/2 in my lane, moved into the lane left of me and flew past me. He came into my lane, braked, and then moved into the right lane and turned into a store. I guess he was in a hurry.
Sylvester Posted September 26, 2014 #2 Posted September 26, 2014 You inhibited his driving by being in the lane he wanted. Never a good position for a motorcycle. Good that you are fine.
XV1100SE Posted September 26, 2014 #4 Posted September 26, 2014 Glad you reacted quickly and avoided an accident !
Dale124 Posted September 27, 2014 #5 Posted September 27, 2014 Wow, that is truly frightening. It's times like those that makes one wish they were 6'6, 250 lbs of muscle and trained in martial arts, because someone needs an attitude adjustment!

It's times like those that makes one wish they were 6'6, 250 lbs of muscle and trained in martial arts, because someone needs an attitude adjustment! Aint that the truth! Or, in our case Dale, had a bunch of the Hells Angels behind ya who the dork also cut off, sit back and watch as they turn that new 4x4 upside down in the parking lot and leave.. Then have your camera ready for when the guy walks out of the Store:rotf: Frank, soooo glad you and Barb got thru that ordeal in good shape!! That saying of Venturous Randy's (or whatever the heck his name is now) about riding like your invisible to others can sure come true in an instant.. Like my ol Basket Ball coach used to scream at us - DEFENSE, DEFENSE.. Sounds like you had the same coach and you LISTENED!!
Angelo Posted September 27, 2014 #7 Posted September 27, 2014 They should make it mandatory for anyone who wants to drive a car/truck should have to ride a bike first. That would make these boneheads pay a bit more attention.
