"According to AutoEvolution, ComSonic also said at the Virginia Distracted Driving Summit this week that it is still working on a way to find who out in a vehicle might have been texting, if there is more than one person in the car."

Now what if I have my phone put away but am still receiving text messages while driving? Am I still guilty of texting and driving because I did not put my phone into "driving mode" before I got in the car.

I love to roll up on a a phone fixated idiot, honk the horn, and do the No No No finger wave. they always put their phone down. The phone fixated idiots don't seem to understand how dangerous, rude and annoying they are to every one else in the world.:soapbox:

Sorry, if there are any phone fixated idiots reading this put the dam phone down and pay attention to what's going on around you.

I saw on the news that Ontario is considering new laws that would treat "distracted driving" as seriously as DUI.

They said it causes almost as many accidents

Our local PD has said they are getting one as soon as possible. :fingers-crossed-emo

Because it is perfectly legal for a passenger to be texting in the car, they will only be pulling over single occupant cars, then there is no question who was texting.

The place making the gizmo says they are working on a way to tell who in the car was texting.

The phone does not send out a signal when a text comes in, only when you send a text out. So a text coming into your phone while it is in your pocket "should" not be noticed by the detector.

The cops here are real low tech. They park a van at an angle to the road then open both windows and look through with a spotter scope. They can see if you are wearing a seat belt or are texting or yapping on a cellphone. it works well.

I wish cell phone manufactures would jump on board and make the cell phones so they couldn't txt if they detect the phone moving faster than 5 mph. A couple days ago I was sitting at a light and when it turned green I normally knew how fast I had to go to make the next green light. As I was pulling out on my bike I noticed a Trailblazer who had no sign of slowing down so I stopped and just as I thought he blew right through a red light. I honked and yelled at him and he looked up from apparently texting. I still don’t think he even knew he went through a red light. UNBELIVABLE!!

Tweeks has an exhaust system that,, well,, is basically a rolling Weld Shop supply of .035 Mig wire and 1/8 inch brazing rod.. The remaining holes and bad gasket in her right side exhaust serve as a warning device for the same folks you wave at Bob..

I spot em, nod to Tippy (her headshake and smirk when I do this is priceless), pull up with the right side exhaust just ahead of the drivers window, back off the throttle and Tweeks says "STOP KILLIN PEOPLE" by laying the prettiest golden egg sonic BOOOOM imaginable! :detective:

Lots of fun in tunnels, under bridges and for waking Tip up after 16 hours in the saddle too!!:rotf:

and hamburgers that won't eat while moving..........and newspapers that won't read...........and makeup that won't apply.

I remember reading a Road & Track magazine article in 1958 entitled "Death by Distraction"............ and at that time the focus was on radios and heater controls.

Not much has changed.
