spear Posted March 18, 2008 #1 Posted March 18, 2008 Greetings all, Just back from a weekend away with my 4 brothers. Thought I'd share a couple of photos with you. Shot 1 is the 5 of us - the 2004 RSV, 3 Hardlies and a Honda 1100 Super bol d'or. All up nearly 7 litres of engine capacity in 14 cylinders. Nobody has stock pipes, and boy did we turn heads as we slowly rumbled through the countryside. Shot 2 is yours truly. Shot 3 is typical of the countryside around where I live. I'm about 3 hours from home here. And no - we do not ride on the right side of the road. I just wanted to pull up in the shade for a drink and leak. Enjoy.
Riderduke Posted March 18, 2008 #2 Posted March 18, 2008 Nice photos. I must say that Australia is one of the few countries that I would like to visit one day. Being on a bike would just make it that much better. I must say that You have good taste in bike colors:whistling: I have only one brother and four sisters and none of them ride so i kind of envy you being able to ride with your sibilings. My sibilings just look at me and think I'm crazy for riding motorcycles. They don't understand. When my mom visits she usually wants to go for a short ride. She is 70 and says that its fun to do once a year.
gibvel Posted March 18, 2008 #3 Posted March 18, 2008 When my mom visits she usually wants to go for a short ride. She is 70 and says that its fun to do once a year. None of my family rides either. My father is a doctor and threatened that "If any of us got a motorcycle that we'd be cut out of the will". I would love to take my mom for a ride on the bike but, she's over 80 and just had her hip replaced because of a fall so I don't know if she'd even be able to get on. We'll see when they come out in May for my son's graduation. They'll be shocked that I'm riding again... I'm hoping that she'll figure she's old enough so what the heck. Spear: Bet that was a blast taking some time and riding with your brothers. Glad you had fun and had a safe trip!!
spear Posted March 18, 2008 Author #4 Posted March 18, 2008 Spear: Bet that was a blast taking some time and riding with your brothers. Glad you had fun and had a safe trip!! You bet Mark. This was the fifth year in a row we did it. We were all at the youngest brother's wedding six years ago, and lamented the fact that the only time we got together was for a wedding or a funeral. We decided there and then to change that, and organise a ride every year - sometime close to Easter. So we did. First year was around 1,200 kms. Second year 1,500kms. Third year 900kms. Last year 1,000 kms and this year 2,000 kms. Soon adds up.
spear Posted March 18, 2008 Author #5 Posted March 18, 2008 They don't understand. I do not try to explain why I ride motorcycles. For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For those who don't - no explantion is possible!
Condor Posted March 18, 2008 #6 Posted March 18, 2008 What a great group of pictures... I'm jealous!! Had 2 brothers. One older and one younger. The younger one used to Harley, but sadly we never got together on 2 wheels... Now I'm the only one left still ridin'....
mini-muffin Posted March 18, 2008 #7 Posted March 18, 2008 Nice pics hope you all had a great time. Of course you did have the best looking bike out of the bunch. I think my mom would get on the back with Jeff. I know if my grandmother was around still she would. She was always very adventurous. Margaret
Yama Mama Posted March 18, 2008 #8 Posted March 18, 2008 Beautiful photos My Dear Spear! You do have the best looking bike though. Thanks for sharing them with us. See you soon on Chat! Mama
spear Posted March 19, 2008 Author #9 Posted March 19, 2008 Thanks for the comments on the photos. Appreciated. I am a pro photographer, but when I'm riding I only use a small digital camera. My pro stuff is too big and too expensive to carry on the bike. I've attached 4 more shots. These are 5x7 'postcards' that I make from the shots I take on each ride, and give them to the brothers and our parents after each ride. We slowly add them to composite frames that we feature in our living rooms around the country. You'll notice that I started with my 750 Honda 4 on the first ride. Second ride was after I had restored and painted it - blue. Following year I was on my BMW R1150RT, then last year was the first with the RSV. Obviously this year was the RSV again. Enjoy.
spear Posted March 19, 2008 Author #10 Posted March 19, 2008 I've just finished the postcard for last weekend's ride. Attached.

spear Posted March 20, 2008 Author #14 Posted March 20, 2008 VERY nice postcards, spear! interesting way for everyone to remember their "VENTURES". by the way . i am curious. do those aussie bikes , rumble with a funny accent? lol just jt Hipshot. The only funny accent down this end of the world is in New Zealand. Nothin' funny about us Aussie blokes. Then again, we don't sound anything like Forrest Gump!
