my full face helmet the kind that flips up in front has developed a squeak when lifting, and when im wearing it its like nails on a chaulkboard!!!! whats a good lub to put on hinges that wont eat the plastic or smell up inside of helmet?:322:

"white grease" you should be able to find it at auto parts stores. It is what is recommended for door hinges and alike as it can be cleaned off clothing.

I buy it in spray form at Canadian Tire ..... Auto Zone, NAPA or similar in the USA I assume.

and I guess the old 3in1 oil will do also... very fine light oil.

Typically, plastic on plastic is lubed with silicone. BTW, di-electric grease IS silicone. Most modern helmets, if not made of fiberglass, are composed of polycarbonate. A bad polycarbonate lubricant is any petroleum based lubricant. Petroleum based lubes may cause cracking.

Silicon spray lube works best on plastic parts.

every silicone spray that says it stops squeaks, I found just makes the squeaks worse.
