kevin-vic-b.c. Posted September 17, 2014 #4 Posted September 17, 2014 "white grease" you should be able to find it at auto parts stores. It is what is recommended for door hinges and alike as it can be cleaned off clothing. I buy it in spray form at Canadian Tire ..... Auto Zone, NAPA or similar in the USA I assume. and I guess the old 3in1 oil will do also... very fine light oil.

Prairiehammer Posted September 17, 2014 #6 Posted September 17, 2014 Typically, plastic on plastic is lubed with silicone. BTW, di-electric grease IS silicone. Most modern helmets, if not made of fiberglass, are composed of polycarbonate. A bad polycarbonate lubricant is any petroleum based lubricant. Petroleum based lubes may cause cracking.

djh3 Posted September 17, 2014 #11 Posted September 17, 2014 I guess its silicon. Anyways the stuff is sort of gel like and is for O rings. Got some for the pool strainer lids and such.
