azxvz1284 Posted September 16, 2014 #1 Posted September 16, 2014 With such a good frame, motor, and mechanicals, has anyone done a rebody? That is the same concept as a body kit for a Fiero that gets a new body and becomes a Lambo or Ferrari "replica." anyone? Thanks, Richard
craigatcsi Posted September 16, 2014 #2 Posted September 16, 2014 Does a 'ReBody' Kit Exist or are you talking about doing one from scratch?
etcswjoe Posted September 16, 2014 #3 Posted September 16, 2014 I like the idea, sounds like a task for someone with a 3D printer.
ACE50 Posted September 16, 2014 #4 Posted September 16, 2014 I'm thinking about building my own fairing from scratch this winter. Tired of the same'ol Harley type look. Just wanted to get my bars done first.
craigatcsi Posted September 16, 2014 #5 Posted September 16, 2014 I'm thinking about building my own fairing from scratch this winter. Tired of the same'ol Harley type look. Just wanted to get my bars done first. When building one from Scratch, I would worry about it being strong enough to withstand the force of Wind a High Speed. When I was in my early 20s, I had a Honda 750F which was built up to make it VERY Fast. Anyways, the bike had a Vetter Windjammer on it. When I got over 130 - 140mph, I saw the Fairing kinda 'twist' / Move. Even as dumb as I was to go that fast, I backed down, (and lost the race), because I was afraid of the Fairing coming apart / off and killing me. - I was telling an older Mechanic friend of mine about the race and the Fairing twisting and he told me to stop and think about how much pressure is on a fairing at Highway speeds. 'Hold your Hand up flat when on the Highway'. Because of him saying that, I always consider wind resistance for my bikes as well as my Cages. Now that being said, IF you have the know how to make a Fairing, I am VERY anxious to see the results. I sure understand being tired of the HD look / Batwing look. That is one thing about my Venture that I REALLY like, that the Fairing looks so much different. craigr craig
ACE50 Posted September 16, 2014 #6 Posted September 16, 2014 The Venture is different but they look very plain. Want to do something more aerodynamic. Most cruiser fairings or windshields are more perpendicular to the wind and you get a lot of turbulence. Sportbike fairings are more parallel to the wing and you get very smooth wind across them. (think laminar flow) I have plenty of ideas, just haven't nailed down anything yet.
craigatcsi Posted September 16, 2014 #7 Posted September 16, 2014 If you are able to come up with something different, I am very anxious to see it. Someone on my Trike Forum DID redesign their Fairing and it looks pretty cool. If I remember right, it was on a Goldwing Trike. I used to do Fiberglass on Semi Trucks and Boats, so I could do it in Fiberglass, but I know nothing about this ABS. Please keep us up to date on your Progress. Pics would be nice also. craigr
Flyinfool Posted September 16, 2014 #8 Posted September 16, 2014 If you were designing your own faring you could do it all in the colored carbon fiber and have a really cool look that requires no paint at all.

Thanks, Richard While I am not sure if this example is what you were thinking of, but this owner, Steve Crossley (a member here) modified his First Gen body a lot.
suds Posted September 16, 2014 #10 Posted September 16, 2014 I really like the look if that! Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2

That would require some time consuming tooling to pull that off. I don't have that kinda time......

That's what I would do if I had a 1st gen! Maybe a little less flake but the result looks good.

Prairiehammer Posted September 16, 2014 #15 Posted September 16, 2014 I had dreams of something like this. I'll bet they were we... Never mind.
