Morning,

Saw an article this morning for the Motus sport touring bike made in Alabama, although way outside my price range I did find it interesting.

Here is a thread from 2009 and one from 2011 discussing the upcoming bike.

Nice looking bike. but at $30K for a "sport touring" type bike I think its going to be a really up hill battle. The deluxe model I think they said is over $36K Seriously I can buy a car for less that probably gets the same milage. The Victory I would like to have is around $18K and I cant justify that.

30K, no way. I turned my ZRX1100 into a touring machine and love it now.

115HP @ 530 lbs., and got it for $1800.

Nice concept though.

Indeed Joe, good read!! Always neat to read about new bikes coming around, THANKS for posting this up.

When I first started reading about this I noticed the comment of 1/2 a Vette engine,, brother did I get goosebumps!! Seeing the picture of the V-4, thinking 1/2 a 350 Chevy, coming up with 2350cc really got my attention.. Than I noticed it was a 1650 cc build,,, rats..

Some really interesting engineering stuff going on there,,, wish I was Jay Leno - be fun to show up at a VR International with our tent strapped on one of those puppies!!:cool10:

235cid in 53. 235 6 cyl "Blueflame" 3 Carter Sidedraft carbs. 150 hp with a powerglide of all things. LOL

Half of that would be a 1935cc straight 3 cyl not a V4.

It is my personal opinion of something I know little about, that they are saying half of a Vett engine simply because it is a 90° V4 and that is where the similarity ends.

You can buy the Motus V4 as a 'crate engine'. I think the Motus V4 was 'inspired' by the LS1 V8, but I am not sure how many parts are interchangeable.

Check out this article:

And here:

"Let's focus in on that engine for a moment. Think of the KMV4 powerplant as half of an LS3 V8 from General Motors and you won't be too far off from the truth. Of course, there's more to it than that, but the basic specifications sound remarkably familiar to anyone well versed in modern Corvette speak.

For instance, there will be two valves per cylinder, operated by pushrods actuated by a camshaft buried deep inside the aluminum engine block. The cylinders are arranged in a 90-degree V, just as you would expect. Delving a wee bit deeper, we find that many of the engine's internal bits and pieces (hydraulic lifters, fuel injectors etc) can be located at any GM dealer (or Pep Boys, etc) in the country."
