SO ... before I invest in this I want to be sure I understand it correctly

If my wife and I have SMH10 headsets, we will be able to talk to each other through the Sena headsets - that I understand.

Can both headsets then be paired to a single phone to listen to the same music, or will mine pair to my phone and she will have to pair hers to her phone?

If I add the SM10 adapter then we can both listen to whatever goes through the bikes IC system, plus we can talk to each other, AND we can both use the CB? or only driver gets the CB?

TIA

Mad Dog,

My wife and I love our SMH10's. We've had them 3-4 years and they're still awesome. We are really looking hard at the new Sena 20S units though.

Anyway, if I were you i would call Sena and ask your questions. That's what I've done in the past and gotten great results.

I can speak to this part, as my buddy and I have these.

You each pair your own phone to your own headset. Either of you can play music from your own phone, and the other person can stop/start/fast forward/rewind the music from either phone. Example... I start a song from my phone and my buddy doesn't like it, he can skip it and go to the next. (this part sucks if you like what was playing, but you can always skip back until he gives up)

One thing that took a little bit of figuring out was that you first have to start an intercom conversation and then start the music playing.

The person who initiates the intercom conversation will be the one whose phone is used to play the music.

Hope this helps, and let me know if it all makes sense.

Hey,

Unsure of the SMH10 use in regard to the CB as I ride an RSMTD and it does not have a CB or com system but with the addition of the SM10 adapter I can Bluetooth the music from either my wife's phone or mine to both of our headsets. What the SM10 does is it allows 1 device to send music to 2 headsets. Otherwise if we wish we can just listen to the music on each of our own phones. Great units... have been trying to talk my brother-in-law into getting a set for my sister and himself so we can speak while riding but he is a little tight... I may just have to get them a set for Christmas or something as it really adds to the ride to have a communication element. On the other hand, if I happen to run the bike a little too fast for my wife's taste not only do I get the fingers digging into my lower back, I also get a sermon over the comm set....

Bob Myers seems to be pretty versed in these. He is upgrading to the 20's though and may have a pair for sale there. I was looking pretty hard at them, but have had some minor disasters lately.

As DJ said, I learned a lot about these units in short period of time.Spent roughly $760 in lessons too.

For one thing at a time, like either intercom, or music they are great. Try doing those 2 things all at once and it will NOT work. others told me it would. Sena said it would not work, after I bought the set. To listen to music the second(or third) intercom must be "tapped off"via the jog wheel, either of the paired intercoms can bring it back on by "tapping the jog wheel again" and it will mute the music.

I actually bought 3 units, the third i used to integrate the factory radio/CB/ intercom to bluetooth. Worked, can even talk on CB via BT, just not without turning off intercom first.

I had several email trades with Sena starting here, and it actually took asking this exact same question of 3 different "techs" to get a real answer;

Ok, I am headset #1, wife is headset #2

#1 will connect via the media setting to my BT transmitter to play my Sirius

When #2 is turned on and the intercom synchs it mutes my Sirius, even though we are set to VOX. This is undesireable, in fact I am highly displeased overall and this may be the straw that gets these sent back if there is no workaround for this

Will the SM10 allow me to listen to SIrius and then mute when her incom becomes active via VOX?

So I get this response and really get confused and frustrated, he tells me it won't, and in next sentence it "should"

I think if i have understood correctly you are asking for a feature that is not advertised with our units.

If you can connect to the bluetooth transmitter and hear the sirius then, depending on the transmitter you have hooked up you may be able to music share the sirius with the other headset.

The sm10 will allow to headsets simultaneously to listen to an audio source connected to the unit.

AS far as vox settings they have nothing to do with the intercom and sirius they only have to do with blowing into the microphone or talking loudly to initiate an intercom.

Regardless of vox or not, the intercom should disconnect after a period of inactivity and go back to the music.

So, I sold the pair in the box and bought an SMH20s. And it will do what I wanted, play music until her highness speaks into intercom, it then mutes and will return to music in about 3 seconds after last command is issued by her.

I am using an SM10 to broadcast the sirius via BT, but any of the cheap $10 units on ebay will do the same thing if you can plug in like a headphone, as DJ does
