So, I was under the impression that Harley discontinued this model in 2013. In fact, I was told that by more than one Harley sales rep.

Just saw an ad for a 2015 model.

WTF?

Did Harley pull a fast one?

Not discontinued. There was not a 2014 model. They just came out with a slightly revamped 2015 model.

ahhhhh ... guess I got my wires mixed up. Thanks for the clarification.

I like the changes to the fairing ... lines seem a bit sharper ... kinda like a Victory CCT:whistling:

They all look the same to me. I like the street glide which I dont know really what the ig difference is between that and the Road Glide. Dont the road glide have a frame mounted vs bat wing type fairing? To me they have to many similar models. My buddy in NC has a softail, and one of my other friends over in Sarasota Fl has a Road King. Both have soft bags and a windshield. Whats the difference? I just gave up with all the sub models. They make about 3 full dress touring bikes that all look exactly the same but names and the alphabet is all screwy.

The ONLY real difference between the street glide and the road glide is batwing fork mounted fairing vs. frame mounted fixed fairing.

The ONLY real difference between the Ultra Glide and the Road Glide is batwing fork mounted fairing vs. frame mounted fixed fairing.

There is a Road Glide and a Road Glide Ultra. It is the Road Glide that is the same as the Street Glide except for the fairing. The Road Glide Ultra is what I have and the difference is the tour pack and the front fairing lowers and some accessories such as rider/passenger intercom and etc.

There are actually a lot of differences between the softail and the Road King. Too many to list here but there are even slight differences in the engines, suspension is a big difference of course, gas tank size, seat height....many differences.

This is one of the reason's Harley is so popular ... SELECTION. They have practically every base covered when it comes to "street" style, large engine displacement motorcycles (not counting crotch rockets and dual-purpose types)

The ONLY other motorcycle mfg that is even close to that is Victory.

Completely different frame and suspension too. (next two paragraphs are for those readers who arent HD knowledgeable)

Softails (Heritage, Deluxe, Fatboy etc) have the horizontal rear shocks mounted under the frame, an obvious oil tank under the seat, and a rigid mounted, but counterbalanced, engine.

FL's, (Road Kings, ElectraGlides, RoadGlides etc) have more traditional vertical shocks on each side of the rear wheel and the engine is rubber mounted but not counterbalanced. The oil tank is carried under the transmission.

As far as the gap in the RoadGlide model year, well...the thumbnail is that HD wanted to get away from the Erik Buell connection and his patents on the sharknose fairing. So a re-design was necessary.

Harley is a genius company when it comes to marketing for almost every type of motorcycle rider there is. In fact, they even came out with a new trike for the younger crowd...called the Freewheeler. Looks pretty good...not your grandpa's trike anymore.

Once you look into the models, you get to understand what each offers. Street glides do not have the air suspension. They have a coilover shock that can be adjusted.

As far as the new Roadglide, I do not see an ULTRA version in the 2015 line up, which is disappointing.

I would have to say that Honda does a pretty good job at looking at all types.

I'm sure you will see an Ultra. They have already come out with the CVO model but at $40,000.00, I'll have to pass.

yup, but how many models do they offer with engines over 1600cc? That's what I was referring to.

Yeah I rode one at the Harley days at the plant here in Kansas City. If they had a regular Ultra I would for sure have looked at it. I do like my Ultra Limited, but have always liked the Roadglides. At $40K+ it is out of my range for sure.
