Not sure if this is true or bogus, but I think better safe than sorry-and good reason to be packing.

In summary: Don't flash headlight at on-coming car with lights off, as they may chase you down to kill you!

That one has been going around for years. It is totally bogus. I remember being warned about flashing the lights when I was in high school. That is decades ago.

This makes a strong case for gun control. When I ride, I always securely carry my Glock on hip with one in the pipe followed by 15 friends.

I remember many years ago reading an article about drunk driving and the Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that about 65% of DUI offenders were initially pulled over for not having their lights on.

This was long before cell phones and cars with automatic headlights, but I always found that interesting.

It was in a movie in the 90s I think it was called Urban Legends.

 Groan.

As for the "urban legend" aspect, back in the late 90's my wife & I were driving through the middle of cow country, WI, late at night. I flashed a car that had it's high beams on, after they passed us they swung around and followed us, however it was probably kids playing on that legend because when I came to a town, they U-turned and went back the way we came. And no, it wasn't a cop car, it was a little import, a honda or a toy or something like that. It did scare the crap out of my wife tho, and she doesn't like me to flash my lights at other drivers now.
