bkuhr Posted September 4, 2014 #1 Posted September 4, 2014 Not sure if this is true or bogus, but I think better safe than sorry-and good reason to be packing. In summary: Don't flash headlight at on-coming car with lights off, as they may chase you down to kill you!
Sailor Posted September 4, 2014 #2 Posted September 4, 2014 That one has been going around for years. It is totally bogus. I remember being warned about flashing the lights when I was in high school. That is decades ago.
bongobobny Posted September 4, 2014 #3 Posted September 4, 2014 It was started by some cop who was tired of having speeders warned about radar traps...
Venturous Randy Posted September 5, 2014 #4 Posted September 5, 2014 Snopes says it is all false. RandyA
Pegasus1300 Posted September 5, 2014 #6 Posted September 5, 2014 Totally bogus. I first ran into in 1999.
SoCalVenture Posted September 5, 2014 #7 Posted September 5, 2014 Not sure if this is true or bogus, but I think better safe than sorry-and good reason to be packing. In summary: Don't flash headlight at on-coming car with lights off, as they may chase you down to kill you! This makes a strong case for gun control. When I ride, I always securely carry my Glock on hip with one in the pipe followed by 15 friends.
Venturous Randy Posted September 5, 2014 #8 Posted September 5, 2014 I remember many years ago reading an article about drunk driving and the Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that about 65% of DUI offenders were initially pulled over for not having their lights on. This was long before cell phones and cars with automatic headlights, but I always found that interesting. RandyA
Brake Pad Posted September 5, 2014 #9 Posted September 5, 2014 Yep, one in the pipe and nine close friends, never leave home without them
etcswjoe Posted September 5, 2014 #10 Posted September 5, 2014 That one has been going around for years. It is totally bogus. I remember being warned about flashing the lights when I was in high school. That is decades ago. It was in a movie in the 90s I think it was called Urban Legends.

icebrrg3rd Posted September 9, 2014 #13 Posted September 9, 2014 If you are being attacked by clowns, go for the juggler. RandyA Groan. As for the "urban legend" aspect, back in the late 90's my wife & I were driving through the middle of cow country, WI, late at night. I flashed a car that had it's high beams on, after they passed us they swung around and followed us, however it was probably kids playing on that legend because when I came to a town, they U-turned and went back the way we came. And no, it wasn't a cop car, it was a little import, a honda or a toy or something like that. It did scare the crap out of my wife tho, and she doesn't like me to flash my lights at other drivers now. -Andrew
