Ropaint Posted September 4, 2014 #1 Posted September 4, 2014 I have a 96 royal star. I can't get the spark plugs out. I have a 5/8 plug socket with a swivel connecting an extension to the wratchet. Husky socket set. Do I need a thin socket? What I'm using is made for plugs Thanks for any ideas. Rick
vzuden Posted September 4, 2014 #3 Posted September 4, 2014 If you are using a swivel I am guessing you are removing the plugs with the fuel tank in place? If so, it may help to pull the tank first to make it easier
djh3 Posted September 4, 2014 #4 Posted September 4, 2014 Yes I believe you need a thin wall socket. I dont think I can get a standard socket on mine either. Its been a while since I changed plugs so memory is a bit foggy.
Dano Posted September 4, 2014 #5 Posted September 4, 2014 18mm thin-wall socket available thru Kobalt tools at Lowes...... ONLY one that will work...
Flyinfool Posted September 4, 2014 #6 Posted September 4, 2014 My Craftsman standard 6 point 18mm deep 3/8 drive socket works well also. Your 5/8 plug socket is equivalent to just under 16mm, so it can not possibly work on an 18mm plug.
