Green Tinted Tape Over Dash Lights

On my recently purchased 2009 RSV, someone has placed Green Tinted Tape over the lens that covers the Cruise Control Status Lights. The lens doesn't seem to be cracked or broken, so I can't understand why they did it. Maybe the lights were too bright at night for the previous owner. I would rather remove it unless it has a real purpose. I started to remove it, but thought I would check to see if some of you can tell me if you have ever heard of this before. See the pic.

Strange.....the only explanation that I could think of it as you have said...maybe too bright.

That would be my guess. however the high beam light at night bothers me more. Always has on vehicles.

Maybe it has a "nice glow" to it at night time.

Maybe the PO was color blind and the green tape lets him see better.

When you deactivate the cc a bright amber light comes on. Maybe this is what they wished to block.
