muaymendez1 Posted September 4, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 4, 2014 a few months back I blew a head gasket. Further inspection shows that there was an incredible amount of rust in the engine. Not worth trying a repair. Saving some cash to purchase a replacement by Thanksgiving and installing it then. I will be swapping out the upgraded clutch from the toast motor as well as performing the valve adjustment prior to installing. It's there anything else I should think of replacing? Also anything I should salvage from the donor engine before scrapping it. I'm taking clutch, valve shims, and faux cooling fins.
Flyinfool Posted September 4, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 4, 2014 Stator, rotor, transmission. If your old motor did not have a bad whine, then you will want the whole clutch basket. I'm sure there is more.
bongobobny Posted September 4, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 4, 2014 Yup, stator, transmission, all the chrome covers, and the valve covers so 1st gen owners can add chrome fake covers...
Venturous Randy Posted September 4, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 4, 2014 In saving transmission, make sure you keep everything together, gear sets, forks, tumbler, everything. It can also be used in a 1st gen. RandyA
Dano Posted September 5, 2014 Share #5 Posted September 5, 2014 Don't just trash it, that's a nice piece of aluminum for recycling and making some of your $$ back!
