Greekdog Posted August 31, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 31, 2014 Have to agree about the E3's. I have about 9k on them so far and the rear looks just as good as the front... Very pleased..
Venturous Posted August 31, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 31, 2014 E3's front and rear. Smaller tire up front. Happy with tire life. Used Metzler ME880's for several years but every rear cupped badly and did not get near as many miles from them.
Skid Posted August 31, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 31, 2014 I'm on E 3's and very happy. Just ordered another rear last week from Jake Wilson for $159. The date code was 4513.

uncledj Posted August 31, 2014 Share #11 Posted August 31, 2014 Dunlop 404's front and rear. I'm pretty happy with them. Seem to grab pretty good in the rain. Maybe a bit soft, but I usually equate that with better traction, but quicker wear. I don't worry too much about the wear since I usually put less than 5000 miles a year on the bike. Considered going darkside, but couldn't talk myself into it.
djh3 Posted August 31, 2014 Share #12 Posted August 31, 2014 17k plus on a pair of MC 2. The 130 up front. I ran like 40 across the board press.
Caveman Posted September 1, 2014 Share #13 Posted September 1, 2014 E3's front and rear for the last two set's. they wear verry well but scare the out of me in the rain.
darthandy Posted September 1, 2014 Share #14 Posted September 1, 2014 E3's front and rear. Work great in the rain, turning and braking. Don't know why others have problems in the wet - these were way better than the 404's the bike had when I bought it. Andy

Squidley Posted September 1, 2014 Share #16 Posted September 1, 2014 I have used Avon Venoms for a long time and been very happy with them. I have a set of Michelin Commander II's I'm going to put on my '02 Midnight and see how they are. I have run the smaller front and they are ok, but I like the size that came on the bike from the the factory 150 vs 130. E3's are a decent tire, but like some others I don't care for any Dunlops in the rain. I have also ran Shinko's on 1st gens and although they wear quicker than others, they stick like glue and are quite inexpensive as bike tires go. Barrycuda Posted September 1, 2014 Share #17 Posted September 1, 2014 Avon venoms, front and rear. Never an issue. Thousands of miles across country. Excellent handling in wet weather
Max Posted September 1, 2014 Share #18 Posted September 1, 2014 both E3s, 2 up, currently 29,000 km. Slight cupping and noise. No issues on wet roads. Very tough tires. They'll be replaced with E3s this fall.

Snaggletooth Posted September 1, 2014 Share #20 Posted September 1, 2014 Been running Avon Venoms front and rear since 2006. Got 20K miles on first set. Great performance in all weather and wear with never a problem on loaded bike and trailer. After changing to second set of Avons I only got 12K miles on rear. The softer compound took a toll traveling many miles in last year on lime rock roads in my area while traveling. Just swapped out rear to E3 this summer and have a matching front standing by. No problems so far. With all the good comments from members here I figured the E3's were worth a try. I ride solo but have had my bike loaded and a full trailer pretty much hooked up since this last spring.
