GolfVenture Posted August 26, 2014 #1 Posted August 26, 2014 I have a broken mirror. I see that on ebay I can purchaae a replacement lense for $10.00. I've never replaced just the lense before. Is this difficult to do and is the result OEM satisfactory.
86er Posted August 27, 2014 #2 Posted August 27, 2014 I haven't done that but I have seen inside a broken mirror. (That mirror and some dash panels are hanging on the Tree Of Shame @ Deal's Gap!) As I recall, it would probably have to be glued in. I've wondered about doing that myself, but I wasn't sure where to get the glass the right shape, so I look forward to seeing what sort of responses come in on this.
KeithR Posted August 27, 2014 #3 Posted August 27, 2014 Are your mirrors heated? Usually they are mounted to a plastic backing and then clipped in place. Keith
van avery Posted August 28, 2014 #4 Posted August 28, 2014 If the glass is still flat and just cracked. I believe Autozone or O'riley's sells a material that can be cut to shape and then glues to the exist mirror. Poor mans fix.

A great deal of care must be taken as it is somewhat difficult to get the glass out without breaking it. In your case, since the glass is already broken it would not matter if there was some breakage getting it out. If the replacements are indeed the correct shape then it would be worth $10, in my opinion, to give it a try.
