Depending on how much time you have to spend in the finger lakes, I recommend a ride around Keuka lake. Start in Penn Yan. Ride route 54a down the west side of the lake to Hammondsport, America's friendliest little town. spend a little time for lunch or ice cream. also the Glenn Curtis museum is there. then back up the east side of the lake on route 54. cross over to Seneca lake, to route 14 south along the lake to Watkins Glen. Another nice town to spend some time in. Take route 414 north from Watkins glen along the east side of Seneca lake, some of the best scenery in all the finger lakes. take that to Ovid. From there cross over to route 89. if you head north it will take you up along Cayuga lake to Seneca Falls, birth place of women's rights. also know has Bedford Falls from "It's a wonderful life". If you head south you will end up in Ithaca. Nice down town commons. Also butter milk falls and Ithaca Falls. If you head south to Ithaca, you will go through Taughannock falls state park. You really should ride up the hill to see the top end of the falls. Almost forgot the falls walk in Watkins glen state park. Ok, when you are ready to head up to Alex bay, take the 89 north to the 104 east to the 104a to the 3, to the 12e along the St Lawrence to Alex bay. There are other lakes and other rides, but you won't have enough time. almost forgot there are about a million wineries around here, also some distilleries. You will not be bored. Have a great ride.

ps. What dates will you be here?

I will second what Steamer said above. The Finger Lakes have quickly become one of our favourite spots to vacation and ride.

A ride around Keuka Lake is spectacular, lots of great spots to stop and grab a bite, the Glen Curtis museum is a good way to fill a few hours in an afternoon.

Senaca Lake as Steamer mentioned is also a real nice ride, Watkins Glen is a cool town and again lots of spots to explore.

If you are inclined to travel a bit East Mount Morris is another town to check out, just outside town is Letchworth State Park, lots of great views in the park.

Follow what Steamer wrote and you will have alot of great sights to see.

Hi and welcome this area is great and and You'll love it. I just finished a group ride with a great bunch of people to many of the same place steamer and others have mentioned. You can come down into the finger lakes from Rochester down Rt. 96 to Rt 332. that will tAKE YOU THROUGH cANANDAIGUA. AT the south end of town turn left onto Rt.5&20 and travel east to Rt. 364. Its a wonderful ride of hills and valleys that will take you to Guyanoga Rd. Turn right onto this road and ride it south into Branchport. This is the best part of Rt.54A that leads from Branchport to Hammondsport. Its only 35mph with hills and curves. you'll love it. Stop in hammondsport for Lunch or continue to where Rt. 54 and 54A meet. At that light turn right and you see the Curtiss museum within a mile. When leaving the museum turn left to head north. Rt 54 2will take you to Penn Yan or take the right turn toward Watkins glen. Another great and scenic ride east to the famous village of Watkins glen. There eat at the Seneca Station on the lake . Great food. Walk the Glen its beautiful and stay at the Seneca lodge if you can get a room. if you need help or an escort contact me here. you can look up mu personal info and give me a call. I'll be waiting to hear from you. Phil Lepel.:thumbsup2:

Glen Curtiss was a pioneer in Bicycles, motorcycles and aircraft. For nine years Curtiss held the title of fastest man alive for 9 years after riding an 8cylinder bike of his own design to a speed of 139 miles an hour. There's also a replicate of that bike in the museum. There are also replicates of the first planes Curtiss ever designed that were built right there in the museum work shop by volunteers. There are also cars, boats and models every where. Curtiss also invented the motor home or pull behind trailer. Be ready to spend at least an hour there. And make sure you get to the workshop where the volunteers work restoring airplanes. There are currently two project going on. One in the main shop and another in the back shop where a Curtiss P40 that crashed 70 years ago is being loving restored. Enjoy the museum. There are also great wineries. Check out Dr. Franke's, for riesling, Damiani for reds and J.R.Wiemer for Chardonney. enjoy our area. Any questions? I'm a local limo driver I'll try to answer any questions you have.

If going along 104 I now live just 10 minutes south of it in Macedon N.Y. on Rochester's west side. I can escort you along this way as far as Oswego. We also have just purchased a bigger home with two more bedrooms let us now if any help is needed. I also have a Yamaha dealer near by(Filer motorsports). Avoid Cycle Stop in Rochester if repairs are needed. A friend that rode down from Canada last weekend got stuck there for four hours for a valve stem change and they had to go back because the wheel wasn't put back on straight.

INDEED!! That museum is a virtual hands on gearhead playground!! If they havent changed anything in the last few years (was there back in 04) you can actually PLAY with that old stuff!!

I also LOVE riding the Lake Placid area - really neat place!!

Ask to see the total rebuild on the P40 in the back building! I also love the Adirondack area. I go every June for Americade. Not a bad road to ride in the Adirondacks.:thumbsup2:
