Condor Posted August 24, 2014 #1 Posted August 24, 2014 Woke up at 3am and could go back to sleep. Now I find that we had a 6.1 quake about 60 miles west of Sacramento in American Canyon area. I-80 runs right through the center and I've gone thru is 1000's of times over the years. One thing I've noticed is that there is a fault line that runs right across the freeway and sinks every so often and needs to be repaired or it's like hitting a gully. I guess it finally sunk a bunch.... http://quakes.globalincidentmap.com/
Condor Posted August 24, 2014 Author #3 Posted August 24, 2014 Hope you and all those affected are well. Thanks Joe, but most of us here on the west coast don't take notice until they hit 7.0+ which would be twice as strong as a 6. I remember one year my wife and I, on the way back from a family wedding in LA, stopped for the night at a motel down around Bakersfield. I woke up in the middle of the night with the hanging lamp in the room swaying big time. Open up the door to see what was going on and a tidal wave from the pool was heading right at me. Slammed the door just before it hit the wall. Turned out to be the big Tahachapi Quake with the epicenter about 12 miles away. Wife slept thru the whole thing...
