Water Pump O Ring

I'm doing a service on my bike and was following the shop manual but couldn't get to the drain bolt on the water pump. I ended up pulling the housing off so I could drain the coolant. In the top right corner of the housing there was some rubber like material built up in the pocket.

 

Any ideas as to what it could be? Also, do you think I would be able to re-use the O-Ring? The manual says to replace it but my stealership says it's going to be 2 weeks before they can get one.

 

Any help you all can give would be great!

I'd just reuse the O-ring. If it leaks replace it in 2 weeks.

Looks like silicone sealant.
