baylensman Posted August 22, 2014 #5 Posted August 22, 2014 Tie a string around the filler neck attach to a door knob and slam door?
dacheedah Posted August 22, 2014 #6 Posted August 22, 2014 I thought that was how you got rid of the ex only using a clip on her and a door knob.
RedRider Posted August 22, 2014 #7 Posted August 22, 2014 I thought that was how you got rid of the ex only using a clip on her and a door knob. Clip or a Magazine? RR
MikeWa Posted August 23, 2014 #8 Posted August 23, 2014 How do I remove the gas tank off of my 2000 RSV? Thank you David Turn the petcock off. Disconnect the outlet fuel hose from the petcock. Remove the two Allen head screws from the key guard and remove the guard. Disconnect the electrical connector and vent hose located under the key guard. Remove the riders seat. Remove the tank hold down screw from the rear of the tank. Being careful to note the location of the washers and rubber pad. Remove the two tank screw guards (one on each side) from below the front to the tank. Remove the inserts from the Allen screws. Remove the two tank Allen screws. Carefully lift the tank up and off the bike. Best of Luck Mike
djh3 Posted August 23, 2014 #9 Posted August 23, 2014 Whatcha doin in there? 2012 bime cant be much wrong there.
ENG2242 Posted August 23, 2014 Author #10 Posted August 23, 2014 Thanks, I am running wire to the front fromt the battery.
M61A1MECH Posted August 23, 2014 #11 Posted August 23, 2014 Depending on what you are doing you can tap into the circuit that powers the cigarette lighter in the fairing. Split the fairing and buy a jumper pigtail from me that lets you tap in easy as pie. Spliting the fairing is not much harder than taking off the tank. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=5049&title=plug-and-play-electrical-jumpers&cat=35
djh3 Posted August 23, 2014 #12 Posted August 23, 2014 Could install a ignition by-pass relay while he's in there too, to keep switch from possibly causing problems later.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted August 24, 2014 #13 Posted August 24, 2014 The tank is quite heavy when its full of fuel...keep that in mind...it helps to have a helper! Or...you can wait till its around 1/4 tankful and then its pretty easy to lift off.
djh3 Posted August 24, 2014 #14 Posted August 24, 2014 Good point on fuel level. One of first times I took mine off it had maybe 3/4 tank. Boy when I tilted it to sit down I thought it was going to jump out of my hands.
Ace Posted August 24, 2014 #15 Posted August 24, 2014 When I am going to remove my tank I always disconnect the hose from the petcock and install a piece of hose I have especially for this and route to a gas can , open the petcock and drain the tank off to the can before removal, makes it much easier to handle.
RedRider Posted August 24, 2014 #16 Posted August 24, 2014 It's nice to have a 2x4 length of wood to set under the edge of the tank when you set it down. That way it isn't resting on the petcock. RR
