I bought mine in January for $3,600.00. Another guy bought a bike in May for $4k

I am with Ut on that, saw a LOT of great deals last winter..

Another something I am really curious about on this one are the "scratches" he mentions.. The seller doesnt really give clear pics of the scratches he is referring to leaving true damage up to assumption. Even though most of his feedback is older and not much there as a seller, it is clean - shame that no one has asked him about attaching pics of the scratches he is referring to.

He also requires a down pay of 2 grand within 48 hours. If I were bidding on this one, I would either pre-inspect the bike (ALWAYS a good idea) or get there in person within the 48 hour window with the money in hand....

Seeing is believing,, depending on how the "scratches" were obtained and how substantial they are, this may be a 3000 dollar bike tops!!

Guess it depends on what YOU think its worth. Where it is from you and cost to get. Check your local craigslist and news papers and see where prices are at. Last week I saw an 02 with 50k for under 4000 about 100 or so miles from me.

I had been trying to buy a '05 Venture but that deal fell though due to an issue with the title.

Since I had followed the ebay auction in this thread, and the bike was only about 50 miles from me, went back and contacted the seller about a week after the auction ended to find out if he was interested in a local sale. Was able to finalize a deal and take delivery on Labor Day weekend.

So now I'm a genuine '99 Venture owner. Between work and other life events, have only managed to squeeze in about 250 miles on it so far. Very pleased.

Would like to buy some kind of service/reference manual for the '99 RSV. Any suggestions?

I agree with Puc and Dave. I bought my '99 w/47K back in 2010 for $4100, and it had a ton of bling on it. All it needed were tires. I picked up my '07 last year from Pop Pop for $6000 w/88K as a favor... it needed a new fuel pump quickly, and just recently I picked up a synthetic '04 Midnight for $3,000 w/65K. All of them were in excellent condition. Asking close to $5,000 for a '99 today,in this economy, is stretching it.
