Eck Posted March 16, 2008 #2 Posted March 16, 2008 Sure glad you guys are OK.. and hope everyone else is too.. Looks like more strong storms are the way from the west during this coming week..\ Stay alert.. !!!
DragonRider Posted March 16, 2008 #3 Posted March 16, 2008 We too had that bad weather system pass thru here..........Downtown Atlanta took a direct hit on the Georgia Dome, serveral hotels, and plenty of other damage on Sat. nite during the SEC Tournament..........Then on Saturday we had, at last count, at least 31 tornadoes touch down in the greater Atlanta area............2 deaths reported at last count in the outlying counties............things are a mess around this part of Ga..............luckily we south of Atlanta were in the clear, just a little rain and wind....Some of the hail that fell around these storms went up to 4.5 inches in diameter.........
sarges46 Posted March 16, 2008 #4 Posted March 16, 2008 Wow Sure glad everyone is alright! Keep your heads down guys and gals...thats nasty.
Mike G in SC Posted March 16, 2008 #5 Posted March 16, 2008 I live in Lugoff (SC), we got a full blanket of 1/2" to 1" hail, pounded for about 10 minutes. Watched it from my carport,,,, WOW! But, no serious damage. I did ride through downtown Elgin today (where I work). Saw the damage but I was expecting worse. One of my fellow Starriders said his neighbors house was pounded, he got some roof damage. Mike G in SC
Beau-Kat Posted March 22, 2008 #6 Posted March 22, 2008 Hey Y'all. I live in Moncks Corner, SC and manage he power lines and generators for a power company that provides power to all of the cooperativews in the state, as well as customers in Myrtle Beach, Georgetown, Moncks Corner, Charleston, etc. I was working that night and had to send some personnel out in all that stuff. I heard our linemen reporting high winds and a bunch of hail. The tornadoes tore up some of our lines, some homes, and some businesses throughout the state. Made for a long night. But that's why we're here, to keep the lights on. Been doing this 30 years and every storm is unique. Never get used to them. I'm sure glad I have never been traveling on my bike and run into hail with no cover. That would really suck. Rusty
