Yammer Dan Posted August 18, 2014 #26 Posted August 18, 2014 I have always used Dino oil and changed it every 3000 to 3500. Now "Silver" has Mobile One Racing Full Synthetic with about 4k. I'm feeling guilty......
midnightrider1300 Posted August 18, 2014 Author #27 Posted August 18, 2014 Thanks everyone... I got a good idea on this oil change...I more than likely will change the 1stone at 3kmiles or less,WHY because when I drained the old oil out it was BLACK...and I don't know if it was synthetic or dino...OH by the way I use K & N oil filters , IMHO I think it is as good as any filter on the market....the oil changes from here out will depend I guess on shifting and how it looks in the widow...I do know oil last a lot longer than it did back in the day...our cars tells what percent is left, it will go 6-8k miles depending on driving conditions .....
jakester Posted August 18, 2014 #28 Posted August 18, 2014 It is more about oil contamination(dirty) than thermal breakdown. Driving conditions have been known to be a bit dusty around here and so I change oil and filter every 3k miles, rotella T and Purolator filter. Bill
Motorcycle Mike Posted August 18, 2014 #29 Posted August 18, 2014 I do what the manual says. Change oil and filter every 8000 miles. I use synthetic as well.
Yammer Dan Posted August 18, 2014 #30 Posted August 18, 2014 I just about had it figured out!! Now:think: I think I'll put some Crisco in there and go cook a few Hardley's:clap2:
CaptainJoe Posted August 18, 2014 #31 Posted August 18, 2014 I change dino every 3000 mi. or so. The Castrol 20-50 full synthetic is just starting to turn brown at +5000 mi. and I can tell the motor and tranny is starting to make more sounds so I will change. Not sure the synthetic is worth it at twice the cost...
dacheedah Posted August 18, 2014 #32 Posted August 18, 2014 And change the crush washer each time, torque to specs
midnightrider1300 Posted August 19, 2014 Author #33 Posted August 19, 2014 has any1 tried this.. http://i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc501/1hondaman1100/th_oil1jpg_thumb.png I hear the wife can pick it up at the grocery store cheap.......
