Sailor Posted August 15, 2014 #2 Posted August 15, 2014 Got a garmin gps to use as a speedometer for my 49 chev P/U. Just ordered a holder so I can use it on the bike as well. Should work out great. I like being able to shift it from vehicle to vehicle.
RedRider Posted August 15, 2014 #3 Posted August 15, 2014 Eck, Thanks for posting that. Treasure trove of info for sure. RR
YamahaLarry Posted August 15, 2014 #4 Posted August 15, 2014 I used my Samsung Note 3 and it pretty much does everything I need. Plugged into my AUX on radio, it works well with turn by turn while listening to music and can still use CB radio along with that method. Recently downloaded DigiHUD speedometer app to the phone and checked the accuracy of my '99 RSV. Not too bad off. When bike speedo says 65, the gps says 60-61.
Walnutz Posted August 15, 2014 #5 Posted August 15, 2014 I have used garmin for years....every vehicle I have had them in...the speedo has been off! LOL wonder if the gps is accurate or the vehicle......I also use it as a speedo on my bike.....have not got a ticket yet.....even passed my Uncle with a cop behind me ....MY Uncle was convinced I was speeding LOL not speeding I told him to put a GPS unit in his car and figure out if I was right or he was wrong LOL I swear by em.....good things to use..everywhere
