OK, , , , , , Several couples of us from our church are planning a trip to Memphis in late Sept or early Oct.

There will be 6-8 couples on scooters and at least a chase car.

We will be leaving on a Thursday afternoon and overnighting in Little Rock and then on to Memphis on Friday. We want to do Beale St and listen to some good music, some of them want to go to Elvis's ( Was there couple of years ago, too much commercialization), maybe Mud Island, , , ,where are some other things do do, , see, listen to, , ,

We also are looking for a cheap/reasonable/SAFE place to stay, not necessarily in Memphis, but real close, , ,and GOOD places to EAT !!!

We will be there Friday, Saturday, and part of Sunday before heading back to East Texas.

OK, , ,good Folks, , , ,when we get a firm date, I will post it and maybe someone is close and we can meet and eat.

Stayed at the Downtown Comfort Inn on Front Street a couple of nights (Sept 2012). They let us park the 87' indoors near front lobby entrance.

As it turned out there was room for 4-5 scoots parking. We walked the 20 min to Beale St, there is a trolley ($1) 1 block east of the hotel that stops at Beale St.

We just spent a day on Beale st. Had great time. Stayed in a KOA the first night which I will "not" recommend. The second night we stayed in a hotel off Beale st. Not a huge Elvis fan so we didn't do that. If you like music and the blues, Beale is the place to visit. We ate on Beale and the food was good but not fantastic. We also took a horse drawn carriage which wasn't cheap but fun.

We stayed on the main drag and stayed away from back alleys so didn't give anyone any opportunities for problems. Lots of tourists. About 11 to 1130pm we noticed the energy changing with bars closing and people leaving so we left also. That is the same in every big city. The carnivores stay in the shadows and pick out the stragglers from the heard after the heard has moved on.

As far as bars go, we did a few and then just bought our drinks at a street vendor and walked up and down street. You can hear most performers from an open window and there was plenty of action on the street.

But man, the music was "great"!

Good luck and have a great time.
