Took the first step...

Well, I finally got around to filling out the form for my passport. Never had one before. Only traveled abroad with the U.S. Military.

 

Now I just have to turn it in, with a photo & proper IDs. Wish I would have done it a while back, so I would have it when we visit Niagara Falls next week. Oh well, at least I have the process started, so I can work on visiting some of our Canadian friends in the future.

I have thought about it. But I only got so far as to print out the forms.

Some local Drug stores have capabilities of making a passport photo for you.

Just make sure your eyes are "open" in the photo you submit with your passport forms....If your eyes are closed, they will reject it..

Monty I sure hope you are staying on our side of the falls. No passport no re entry to US. And the backlog on these things is tremendous now that you have to have one to even go on a cruise.

I know its way to late but FYI for anyone reading this.. Michigan (and I assume the other states too?) offers Enhanced Drivers Licenses, we have them and found them to work GREAT for Canadian border crossing but not into Mexico..

I am getting the passport card, instead of the book. Canada is the only place I'll be going, anyway.

In that case the cards work well. From what I have been told the cards work good for Canada, Mexico, bahamas and the like.

The family & I did a cruise on April on Carnival and no passport needed. We went to Grand Turks, Half Moon Cay, & Nassau

Remember my southern brethren the card is only good to cross by land and not by air! If you plan to fly to any Canadian destination you will need a real passport. Same rule for us crossing over to see you.

Be sure to stay in the box when you sign too. they didn't like my wandering crayon once and sent it back. I also thought I would never need one but now I am on my second renewal. Makes things so much easier going back and forth
