XV1100SE Posted August 7, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 7, 2014 Usually you have to watch out for people turning left in front of you, but there have been a few accidents that have been where oncoming traffic crossed the line and hit a bike. djh3 Posted August 7, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 7, 2014 Sad to say this happens to often on the narrow back roads we as motorcyclist enjoy. you get big trucks that probably should not be on them and they cant make a "legal" corner on the road. The Dragon use to have some terrible ones before they stopped allowing semi up there.

cowpuc Posted August 7, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 7, 2014 thing is this wasn't a narrow back road, this was o the Natchez Trace Parkway....this section no sharp curves,... so sad... And,, the speed limit on the Trace could make one think something like this would be highly unlikely (as mentioned)..

midnightrider1300 Posted August 8, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted August 8, 2014 UPDATE.... OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Tishomingo man is now charged with DUI-manslaughter in a traffic accident Wednesday on the Natchez Trace Parkway in Prentiss County. Rangers says Donnie William Sartain, 49, made an appearance before a federal magistrate in Oxford Thursday. He is charged in the deaths of Pauline Demers, 56, and Gerald Nault, 56, of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Court documents say Sartain was impaired when he was driving his pickup on the Parkway near mile marker 289 around 4:15 Wednesday afternoon. The truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with a motorcycle with Demers and Nault on board. The two died at the scene of the accident. Sartain was taken into custody after failing sobriety tests and registering above the legal limit on two seperate breathe tests. Rangers say more charges could still be filed in connection with the accident.

comingbackdown Posted August 8, 2014 Share #11 Posted August 8, 2014 impaired when he was driving his pickup on the Parkway They oughta beat him to a pulp and then lock him up and toss the key. No excuse for being under the influence and behind the wheel. We just had a local killed one town over by some stupid girl who was high on pills and heroin. Makes me so mad I could scream myself hoarse.

Skid Posted August 8, 2014 Share #13 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) That's terrible but it does happen more than we know. Just two days ago here a 49 year old lady with a long past of alcohol & drugs crossed the center line and struck another 34 year old girl with two young girls. Both was pronounced dead at the scene. Life can change quickly due to someone else's stupid activity. Edited August 8, 2014 by Skid
