GolfVenture Posted August 6, 2014 #1 Posted August 6, 2014 Trying to help my neighbor out. This trunk maybe beyond repair, but i thought I would 1st ask the group. Please see attachment. There are some big chunks missing and a few smaller chunks. The are a lot of cracks. If he could find one the same color and shine to match his MKII he probably buy it. Your thoughts?
videoarizona Posted August 6, 2014 #2 Posted August 6, 2014 I would think with Plastex or similar, that could be rebuilt. Or...put an aluminum plate underneath or on both sides. But first weld the plastic together. I would try to fix it.
slowrollwv Posted August 6, 2014 #3 Posted August 6, 2014 That is a lot of damage. It will take some time to fix but it can be done. I would try to find another from a parts bike.
skydoc_17 Posted August 6, 2014 #4 Posted August 6, 2014 Hey Brian, What Year/Color is this trunk? Earl
dacheedah Posted August 6, 2014 #5 Posted August 6, 2014 Im in for it can be fixed but a used would save a lot of time, work and in the end would be a better solution.
Flyinfool Posted August 6, 2014 #6 Posted August 6, 2014 +1 more on the I would fix it. It will take time but can be done and if done right will be stronger than a new one. And I thought I over loaded my trunk a lot........
GolfVenture Posted August 6, 2014 Author #7 Posted August 6, 2014 Hey Brian, What Year/Color is this trunk? Earl It is an 86 VR. See Attached Picture. The picture looks perfect but there are some hidden damage like the bottom trunk.
videoarizona Posted August 6, 2014 #8 Posted August 6, 2014 Pretty... Do like the back rest....like that it's one of the ones that folds forward...
