Is there a way to default the text window wider or longer when starting or replying to posts or PM notes?

Nope, only when Don chooses to move the Smilies-Frame from right Side of the Input Box to somewhere else in the Template. This would make the Input Box wider.

Actually, there IS a way - I did it myself some years ago. Unfortunately, it is not particularly easy to find, and I cannot remember how to do it. I wanted to make mine smaller again a while back and gave up after poking around for 5 minutes or so. :080402gudl_prv:

Using the full WYSIWYG editor, while writing a new post or reply, look up at the right top corner of the Message: screen (the gray box). See the double arrows next to the Font button? Just click the two arrows pointing down to increase the edit window size. Hope that is what you wanted,

Goose

BTW - if you don't want a huge text box there, but are frustrated by the wasted gray space below the text edit box that makes you have to scroll down to find the submit button, you can make that smaller too by just selecting fewer "favorite" smileys to display on the right side.

I always hate changehttp://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_211.gif....http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_33_16.gif....http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_8_13.gif..until I get used to it.

I am now playing with the "make bigger/smaller" arrows.

Full WYSIWYG editor. User CP, Options, scroll down and you'll find a drop down menu to choose the type editor you wish to use.

You can control the length on your own as stated in previous posts. Upper right of this box where I am typing the response. Black arrows to increase or decrease the length.

I see. At first I thought that this would only be good for the one time and not hold all the time, but it appears that it does hold. Very nice. Thanks. I could wish that there were such arrows for the width too. But this is already much better.

I could set it wider but I honestly don't know what the problem is with the width now. When you get to the end it automatically starts a new line so why does it matter? Also, I try to keep it compatible with the screen resolutions that several people might still be using. I have it set now for 640 wide. Some folks still use 640 x 480 screen resolution. If I make it wider, the window will be outside their viewing area.

That's where having the arrows so I could make it wider just for myself would be nice, the way I can set the height of it. I don't know how to determine or describe my screen resolution width. I just know that there is a lot of unused space on either side of this text window. It's not really a problem. It's much nicer now than it has been. I appreciate your efforts.
